Flir One Thermal Camera for Smart Phones | Detect Cold Drafts in Your House

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this video, I show you the Flir Thermal Camera. This particular model is a Gen 3 for iOS but a version for android is available. I bought this thermal camera to see how I could better insulate my home. It was really helpful and I was able to seal up my house in those spots where cold air was coming in and also where my heat was escaping. The camera is small, compact and attached right to my IPhone for easy use. The camera comes with a case so storing it is really easy and worry free. There is a free app to help you navigate the camera and has a library for all of your thermal readings that you are able to save or share.

Thanks for demonstrating this. We bought this same FLIR for the same purpose-to check for leaks and cold spots. Would appreciate seeing you use it to find and remediate cold spots in your spaces. Your videos have been so helpful to us. We've been updating and remodeling our older home over the years, and watching you do it first has given us a roadmap and the confidence to do it ourselves. The first video we found was your dryer belt video, and it helped us with that fix. Thanks for the great videos!!

I just bought the Topdon TC001 - also works great (and allows both static and dynamic temperature scale). Awesome to see heat leaks around the house.

I use a flir e8 every day at work. Glad to see you promoting a quality company like flir. As a professional i won’t trust any other thermal imaging camera.

To any homeowner watching this, interpreting thermal images can be slightly difficult at times. Cold air can move in weird ways. If you suspect a leak, always confirm results with a moisture meter. And NEVER point your camera at the sun.

That's a great device to have for its purpose. Pretty damn clever, actually. It would probably pay for itself, after the 1st use, if all the leaks were sealed up. My only issue, it's $200.00. After using it to improve the energy efficiency in the house, wouldn't need to use it again, unless adding another room. I can see where a tradesman would really get their money's worth from it; showing customers then hired to fix their issues. Nice demonstration. TY

imo i'd have way too much fun looking at the temperature of everything (also funny is how it has that lightning port thing for iphones, yet iphones finally joined in using usb c)

Another good way to see where heat loss is occurring in your house, wait till full dark and scan the outside of the house.

I’m not following why to wait until full dark for outside the house. Would you mind elaborating? My house is very drafty and I’ve no clue where the leaks are. Hoping this can help identify areas to insulate. Although, when they built this house in 1957, the studs were turned sideways so the only way to get insulation in the walls is to drill holes everywhere 😩.

@@JCM-mi5re these cameras read infrared radiation. After sundown there is no “interference” from sunlights. Also, it’s easier to see the heat loss from the outside.

I do wish they included the lows and highs on the top corner like the slightly higher models. It gives you a scale so 65 to 70 degrees won’t look at severe since you can see the highs and lows.

Looks like it has lightning connector. So its not going to work with iPhone 15. But im sure there will be a USB-C iOS revision of that thing if there is not already.

I've had the USB-C version for a couple of years. It's a fantastic tool if you're renovating an older house. In addition to detecting cold spots, it's also agreed for detecting water leaks, and electrical equipment that's running hot. Hi from Sydney Australia 👋
