Brings tears to my eyes, used to watch this with the whole family sitting on the sofa. And my parents were from Mexico, I'm 64 years now, so miss programs like this. Everybody came together, no matter race or whatever.

Seemed like happier times.

Oh Flip, what a man, what a talented man. Definitely one of the greats.

One thing I miss about these old variety shows was how they brought unexpected combinations of people together like this because they had to reach a wide audience. Audiences are more fragmented today.

I love watching Flip Wilson he was so talented

It's great talent like this that did more to ease racial tensions than anything. We were making fun of each other equally and able to enjoy the similarities of our human nature as well as the differences. God bless both Flip and Roy for their contributions to our culture and society.

Wow! Roy Clark was truly one of the great entertainers of his era. Always loved his singing voice. God rest his soul!

I remember this show Growing Up there were so many great variety shows through the 70s tons of talented people oh, good clean fun for the whole family.

Flip Got chops! Fine tenor voice. Dead on pitch.

If you weren’t laughing and crying by the end of anything he did you were dead. And he didn’t even make racist jokes or use 4 letter words.

Flip set the bar so high that very few comedians even attempt to stretch that far. One notable exception would be the team of Belushi and Akroyd in the Blues Brothers movie.

Fun clip! Flip Wilson actually did try his hand at a sort of "countrypolitan pop" record a few years later; it was titled "Berries In Salinas" and was released on his own Little David label. The record was produced by Snuff Garrett, who was best known at the time for producing Cher's songs, and had a similar sound. It wasn't bad, but wasn't a hit either.

Now I need a glass of water. 😳
