PROBLEM SOLUTION. AI 2021. If you "Make" can't be selected on the Blend menu, try creating outlines out of your letters, right-click and create outline. If at the end the stroke isn't following the letters curvature, make sure when you are adding the 3D fx that you apply it to the group, not to the fill or stroke, so on the Appearance panel at the top, you will see Blend and underneath Group, select that to apply the 3D rotation effect so that it can apply it to both strokes and fill together.

Illustrator refresh/recalculate every effects when any changes occur to object. Refresh Time depends on cpu strength. It happened in my file too. I just cut that part to save time. So Be patient to prevent app crash. Good luck :)

I don't understand. For some reason there is something I'm doing wrong with the text and the stroke of the first letter doesn't rotate accordingly like you showed in the video. There is an issue with my 3D rotation and when the "blend" is completed, its shows a white background behind the letter. I moved the "Drop Shadow" below "3D Rotate" and nothing same thing but now the letters are behind the rotated one.

After i apply blend i would arrange the layers from appearance panel. 3d layer should be on the top of drop shadow layer, after i did that every letters has been cut off except the top letter

hey im having a problem. everything works until i move the drop shadown below the 3d rotate. I made sure i removed the default fill and stroke. When i try to move the second letter it hides everything behind it and i cant see a blend anymore.

Looks like you are using Area Text. Convert both text object into Non area text from TYPE menu. When you create text by dragging a text box, it creates area text. So next time you just *click* to make text.

Doesn't work with me too. The color of the letter has the good isometric value but not the stroke...there is a white space between color and stroke and i don't see anything... do you know why ? Thanks

That could happen if you don't remove default fill & stroke color right after creating text. That can make edges look different because that color is there even if you applied another from appearance panel. & Make sure you applied 3D Rotate option OUTSIDE the Fill & Stroke. (in Appearance panel)

I get the same message sometimes. But after pressing OK, there is everything good. As it should be. But in case your pc configuration is low then close other apps which are opened at same time. It might make Ai faster.

THE WHITE SPACE U TALKED ABOUT AT 2.54 IS NOT GOING EVEN AFTER PUTTING DROP SHADOW DOWN WHAT TO DO, AND YOU TEXT LAYER THUMBNAIL IN APPERANCE IS GETTING THAT BLUE TEXT PIC, MY TEXT THUMBNAIL IS PURE WHITE . PLEASE HELP DOING EXACTLY THE SAME YOU DID.

I tried many times and the strokes won't change with the blending mode applied. I really want to make that effect. D:

I haven't used any Blending Modes in this effect. May be you meant "Blend Tool". If yes, then please compare your effect ordering with Mine. In Appearance Panel. Make sure your "Drop Shadow" is BELOW the "3D Rotate". And also make sure that you kept effect where it should be. I mean Inside or Outside "Fill" in Appearance panel. Good Luck 👍

I am having a problem... after I have blended the letters together and moved the 'drop shadow' below the '3D Rotate' a problem appears where only the first letter and the edges of all the other blended layers show... it's not until I hide the drop shadow it appears normal again just without the shadow... Please help

I get to the 3D rotate part and it makes 3D but forms a white box around the letter so when I blend, it does the same to all letters except for just the first letter. Even taking the drop shadow behind the 3D rotate does not work.

Please make sure you cleared default fill & stroke just after writing a character. I encountered that same issue on first time. And check Effect stack Order. Make sure it is the same as mine

I duplicated the letter 'F' Group> Moved it towards right > Took Type Too (T) > Selected that letter F > Erased with Backspace > Typed Letter I > Do this replacing I with F step for both blended 'F's. I recommend using Outline view (Ctrl Y) to deal with Blended Letters. Outline view makes Artboard easier to understand.

You can easily select objects from layer panel. Alt+Click on layer item to select it.

Doesn't work. Moving the drop shadow to the bottom doesn't get rid of the white space.

When i wrote another letter by using text tool... it doesn't work for me as it was showing the last letter in backward.. like F And l both were overlap
