I love these old school hunting videos, especially when flintlocks are involved!

@@okwildlifedept Shoot, anything black powder related is great to me! Especially with traditional muzzleloaders like flintlocks and caplocks.

@@okwildlifedept A second vote here for black powder. The lead ban basically destroyed my black powder hunting with my enfield .58. It’s nice to live vicariously until we escape the iron curtain.

Just stubbled across your channel. Awesome video and good times. Out of all my hunting tools the flintlock is my favorite.

Great video! I've used a T/C Renegade flintlock .50 for small game hunting for years and just enjoy the heck out of it. There's something so relaxing and satisfying using a flintlock over a caplock though I own and use a number of other T/C cap lock Hawkens for hunting also.

I recently got a 32 flintlock, been out once in 2021 didn't seen anything but it was nice to be out in the woods anyway. Got covid and well now disabled but if I can find a good spot I'm going again oxygen tank and all lol

Yup, grey squirrels are indeed fast. They are significantly different than Fox Squirrels who are larger, slower and WAY more stealthy. Hunting Fox squirrels is much like deer hunting. Grey squirrel hunting method: 1. Enter woods and fire a shot. The grays will get exited and give away their location by being noisy. 2. Stalk close to their location. 3. Charge into their area of activity, drop to kneeling and look for startled squirrels. (Typically, they will be running everywhere.). 4. Pick one and fire. (It is possible to hit more than one, but finding them after they fall can indeed be difficult.) I preferred a .410 or a 20 gauge with #6's. Using a shotgun, especially a .410, can be quite sporting and much safer than a rifle. I had been told that if one shot a rifle at an angle greater than 45 degrees that there was no danger to anyone down range. Later I learned that the best angle for a maximum range shot was 40 degrees. In other words, 40 degrees provided the longest range possible and was extremely dangerous. OOOPS!

Kinda funny….modern camos have reverted back to patterns that replicate woodland, just using different colors.

I would think hunting with a flintlock would be very frustrating.

It's not. It's the absolute most funnest hunting that you can do. In my opinion, a good flint lock. Very rarely misfires unless you're in a downpour, you're generally good to go, even in damp weather. A good lock will still work almost every time
