Flight Report | Philippine Airlines | A350-900 | Flight PR 119 | Toronto to Manila | Economy Class

Hello friends! Here is the long awaited trip report of my flight experience with Philippine Airlines flight PR 119 from Toronto to Manila. This flight is serviced by PAL's new A350-900 aircraft. The flight departed from YYZ Terminal 3 and arrived in NAIA Terminal 1.
This is my first time taking Philippine Airlines on a long haul trip to Asia. Overall, I must admit that this was one of the most pleasant trip experiences that I have on a long haul segment. Philippine Airlines is a 4-Star global airlines and their service speaks for itself. First of all the flight departed on time. I loved the generous legroom they have on their economy class. My height is 5'8" and I have long legs but I don't have trouble stretching my legs on their 33" pitch seating arrangement. I used to fly Air Canada and ever since they changed their seating configuration on their 777's, it was hell of a nightmare sitting on the aircraft economy class for 10-15 hours! Philippine Airlines on the other hand did not disappoint.
Overall, I loved the flight experience. The food was great for all three meal services. They offer both Filipino and Western options, which is great. My only comment on their meal service is that it was a little bit slow because they serve both meals and beverages at the same time, unlike Air Canada or Cathay Pacific, which serve beverages first before meals. Air Canada and Cathay also serve peanuts/pretzels before anything else. The cabin crews were okay, but they could could offer a bit more extra smile and enthusiasm to make this flight experience close to perfection.
Would I fly PAL again on my future flights to Asia? Definitely. Despite these small issues I have, my overall experience with them on this flight was great. I would rate it an 8/10.
I hope you enjoy this flight report. Please subscribe to my channel if you have not done so.

PlaneGeek Travels I see that you liked the food. I’d like to put it out there, whenever you’re flying and you are satisfied with the food quality, it’s always a great idea to let the CP or the cabin crew know. This helps us (the caterers) get bonus points and compliments from the airline. Thank you! I hope you really enjoyed the meal.

I took this flight back in July and lucky for me they over booked the flight so got upgraded to business class seat 1D. And as a bit of a nervous flyer it really helped at times I forgot I was on a plane the ride was smooth the crew was friendly and and professional (I’d say some of the best experience I have had with any flight crew) and having a bed to sleep in I actually got s good sleep for the first time on a long haul flight. But god the food is amazing but too much it’s like a fiesta in the sky lol. On the way home I traveled back with my family and we were in economy but still I was empress with the service and the room that PAL economy offered one of the best economies in the air today in my opinion. I happy now that we have this flight and no more air canada with a stop over. Thank you for this video and thank you to PAL for the amazing experience you make a long and tiring trip and make it relaxing.

PlaneGeek Travels our friends in the Philippines say it’s better to call PAL directly 3 days before your flight you will get s cheaper deal for upgrades especially during the month of July so many family’s are traveling at that time and most won’t spend the money on business so PAL is willing to upgrade you as a single person to give up your economy seat because it’s always over booked at that time plus they usually do Canada day deals as well. I’m willing to be most if not all of the people in business class on your flight either was upgraded for free or paid next to nothing to upgrade.

I have flown with PAL last Nov 2018 from MNL to London and back via the A350. All I can say is that Im happy with their service. Cabin Crew on our flights are so friendly. There is a time no more meal option on the 1st meal service since it is a full flight. The cabin crew, to compensate for it, gave me up to two drinks of my choice and also their apology. Then on the second meal service, i was one of the first served. Kudos PR. Keep it up. IFEs, seats and lavatories, all good! Since fellow Pinoys, of course I speak to them in Filipino.

JESI EMMANUEL BUENSUCESO Same thing happened on my return flight. They ran out of option during the first meal so the passenger behind me got a bit upset. But the FA told them they’ll be served first on the next meal service.

Hi PlaneGeek, I noticed that there wasn't a transfer passengers sign on your arrival. Do you know if you have to exit the terminal and check-in again at different terminals? I was looking into flying with PAL from London to Phnom Penh but have heard that transfering can be a challenge at Manila! Their A350 looks great though. Many thanks

Wow.. truly a world class service. They even gave hot towel. And Airbus truly is at the top when it comes to designing and engineering beautiful, modern, and incredibly spacious cabins for all aircrafts. It's competitor is the Dreamliner and Boeing does not even come close Airbus a350. I had the opportunity to ride the A380 on Emirates and let's just say it was an experience I will never forget. An absolutely top notch aircraft and the space is enormous.

Yes, the lines are long sometimes also a bit messy as people find where they have to line up but like you said it does keep things in order and less of a hassle getting on board. I hope you enjoyed the check-in service and signed your boarding pass lol. One thing I never knew was the amenity kit which I'm very surprised about then again I haven't travelled to Asia in 5 years so maybe that's the new but very decent kit for economy class.

It was a pricey seat, but seems worth it. That Toronto to Manila flight is def long. But yes I normally go with Eva Air. Well you stop in Taiwan first of course. It should realistically be dark for most of the flight considering the time we take off and land ? Was this true ? I gotta figure out how to sleep :) Esp if I have more room to stretch out.

Took this flight back in july 2017 and on the way back to toronto in august 2017, what more can you say about long haul flights. It was long as hell and there are always wailing and screaming children. The service was good, and the food also(airplane food). Regardless of the fact that everyone is packed in economy like sardines i still applaud PAL for their attendants being nice and professional(go figure), but then again even in the short haul flights(going to cebu and also singapore using a budget airline) i found asian airlines in general are better than western ones(think united) in terms of overall experience(but maybe i was lucky with all those flights and i think i haven't taken enough american flights to really compare)

PAL is quite expensive for an Asian carrier. I usually take one of the other Asian carriers out of Chicago. Last round trip with ANA was $550 from Chicago. The only advantage on PAL to Manila is the nonstop service without stopping in Tokyo.

Extremerecluse Fallows I agree. In Toronto, Eva Air tend to be the cheapest and Cathay the most expensive. But you can get cheaper deals with PAL sometimes when they have seat sale. My ticket was expensive coz I booked only two days before my flight and PAL ended up to be my cheapest option. I also wish we have ANA here. I love ANA.

Some do it, some don't. On Iberia, they serve drink and meal at the same time. The most meal and drink service I've ever gotten was on Delta (JFK to NRT).

There's nothing wrong with serving drinks and meals all at the same time provided that FAs must be time conscious in serving meals in order for other passengers not to wait long.
