I'm not a deer(maybe a dear) and I feel for these creatures. I got the same problem more or less with Bombardier flies. I swear they are clever f***. And they wait for me to sleep and then attack me😅
Ouch that looks really uncomfortable! Is it the heat which makes the flies so bad at the moment?
