That's my old home track, so many memories! You should hit close to 200 at the end of the main straight just before the 1st brake point, and don't hesitate to hit the brakes harder: that's what Porsche are made for :)

Very interesting tire talk. What would you say are the temperature windows for michelin tires? PS4S / Cup2 / Cup2R. Is it like PS4S 30-50 degrees for max grip? 60-80 for Cup2? 80-100 for Cup2R? With more performance cars coming standard with these tires but most people using the car on the road, doesn't sometimes a cup2 oder cup2R hold a car back on the road because the tires need so much temperature which you can't get on the road? So would a 992 GT3 have more grip with a PS4S on the road than a Cup2?

Tbh youd be suprised how much quicker Oli would be. If you ever raced yourself or even did simracing or something, racing lines are so important. And youd think you would be quick and take like intuitive racing lines and going from outer apex to taking the inner apex and so on, but as he said in one of the turns at roughly after 14:16, if you take his approach, you might lose 0.1 sec, but you gain 0.3 on the way in. Just knowing things like that and that for every turn makes such a huge difference with braking etc as well. You think you take an absolute perfect lap driving the car to the max and then someone else does it like 3 seconds quicker and you just think theyre aliens, but its just little improvements like that that make a huge difference over a full lap.

James definitely looks smoother, and don't forget he has race experience too. From what I can see Oli is used to driving high downforce race cars here, so his line is slightly different from a road car. It is clear that he turns in a tad earlier and uses more kerb on the exit, which is a defensive technique in a close racing situation. But that also means he would run out of track if he misjudged a bend and went in too hot.

Oli would be a good chunk ahead. Also Oli very respectful in others cars not taking liberty to drive 10/10th even though he’s more than capable. I will say he has instructed me a lot over the years so maybe that’s why I’m ballistic 😂😂

@@MrJWW The time I thought you were most vulnerable was when you were in the classic Aston Martin at Lemans. At least in the Praga R1 and Caterham races you were buttoned up tight. With this generation of GT3, Porsche has moved the balance of street to track further to track than any generation previously. Good if you plan on tracking it, not so good if you just want a sporty daily.

Love a signal, our 991.1 rs was lovely. Still don't think the 992 is worth over 200k very similar to a 991.2. Having driven all variants I still think a 991.1 comfort is the best all round GT3 a Wei. Pack just isn't weight wise that much different.

What is the difference in terms of handling between 992 gt3 vs 991.2 gt3 rs

James, I was wondering if you could explain, iyo and experience, to us non-Porsche aficionados the difference between the GT3 and GT2 variants, more pertinent the RS versions? If the GT3 is so great on track, why is there a GT2? And for track, why wouldn’t you have purchased a GT2 - price not being a factor? Ps. The reason most people want the GT3 is that it comes with a manual and so u can daily it and take it on track and it handles great now the GT3 RS takes a another level up I know bonkers so the GT3 RS is a straight up track monster and it has less weight here and there but above all it only comes in PDK no manual cause this is designed to rip track records also both GT3 and GT 3 RS come with a 4.0 L natural aspirated engines where u can hit 9000 RPM Now the GT2 is if a GT3 RS and a Turbo S had a one night stand lol 3.8 TT engine well over 700hp and I think it’s Rear wheel drive also the GT2 RS is usually made at the end of the life span for the current 911 so now we know we got the GT3 and soon the GT3 RS and before we get the new 911 we get a GT2 RS as a send off also the GT2 RS only comes with a PDK transmission Hope that explains the difference I might have missed couple of things but that’s the over all

No experience with any of them but I think it is a bit of an overkill as they are meant to be mainly track use tyres, if you need similar level of performance you could try normal CUP 2's though.

Overkill for the road - CUP 2 are mega, the R are really just ultra track focused and you only benefit at high speed, high grip 👍🏻

All cars should have Nitrogen filled tyres from factory. IMO. My old Renault RS was transformed with a nice set of tyres filled with nitrogen. The tyres last longer/wear better too.

@@MrJWW , the pressures after hot bleed? aka: The ideal track tire temperatures. I run 29Front /27Rears lbs in my 2,950 lb Corvette w/Cup 2s. 2,700 IMSA cars run 24-26lbs. with Michelin race tires.
