I swear I watch countless of KZread videos from well known archers and hunters. Not one of them get so in-depth as you do. I’m always researching and trying to get information yet never could find the specific answers to my question. Then your video pops up out of nowhere. You sir are a lifesaver. Started doing my own vanes a few years ago and this is by far the best and most detailed explanation of how to do a good fletching job. You demonstrate what to and not to do and why. Nice work.

I've been using the EZ Fletcher's for years, but just bought a bitzenburger with a straight and left helical clamp. I've watched 6 other videos how to properly set it up, and watching this kicking myself wondering why I didn't just watch this one first. You always has the best how to videos. Specifically how to adjust the the knobs left and right. Thanks again man!!!

Just gotta say thanks for the great videos. I use to shoot a lot of local 3D and a little indoor back when I was younger but have been out of it for, well just say a few decades. I'm ready to have another go at it. Back then I was good friends and shot with all the guys that worked at my local archery shop which is 30MI away, nothing closer to me than that. Times have changed and so has the shop crew and I guess I feel on my own now. I always fletched my own arrows at the shop with Bitz jigs and spent a lot of time there. My arrows need re-fletched so I called and about sh!t at the charge to have a dozen arrows done. So for a little more I just ordered my own Bitz jig and will have the freedom of doing it myself. Like I said it's been a long time since I fletched and I was feeling a little nervous, but after watching your vid It all came back to me. Thanks, you do a great job of walking through everything and explaining it.

With all glue tips, applying the glue to the vane, you can cut the tip off the plastic tip, screw on a Vista Tip on and you get a better glue dot. 👍🙏🏹

Great video, thank you. Question regarding a 4-fletch and Spine alignment. I've had no problem with a 3-fletch and spine alignment, however when fletching 4-vanes and get the spine aligned correctly between the vanes to get the correct 90 degree set, the spine does not always align correctly. How or what do you do to get a 4-fletch to properly align with the proper vane alignment while maintaining the spine on top?

Have to respectfully differ regarding angles. The pitch of helical twist of eg. 12 degrees remains the same for whatever distance. The offset distance through travel will however increase over distance. Pitch of threads, propellers...anything with a helical twist is measured in either degree offset or travel per 1 revolution. Great instructions coming from OG fletching fat aluminum arrows back in the day. So my question is, it is crucial to scuff the arrow before fletching or can you just clean with Denatured Alcohol and fletch away?

great video! when adding a wrap, do you do it before or after you nock tune (trying to plan fletch placement with the wrap, but also incorporating nock tuning). Going to give the N1 nock tuning wraps a go.

Last week I search "How to use a Bitzenburger Flecthing jig" and KZread did not put your video in the results, yet here, I found this video and it is by far the most thorough and articulate demonstration of using one. Thanks for the upload. With the blazer style/ size fletches, is it common that the rear of the fletch appears to be straight and only slightly turns to the right on the last maybe one inch of the fletch?

O didn't know that helical and offset were different I have just been running a slight right hand offset....but now thinking about throwing a little helical into the fletchings

Great information I been fletching arrows before the age of carbon and acetone and denatured alcohol is my go to with Qtips excess glue was always a issue with super glues I like Loctite ultra gel control flexible formula with a controlled flow and good work time after 3 vane placement to roll and mop off excess glue for a professional look with either my Lastchance vane master pro or Bitzenburger

@@sahhull as a engineer and my understanding of arrows and how archery equipment works I got some input a yoke system with adjustment to micro adjust cam timing for instances where a half twist in control cable is to much similar to the late 1980s Brownings that had Torque syncros that expands with a set screw and guided by 2 rods that keeps to 2 peice yoke system together without making noise during the shot.

Thank you so much I have some questions if you don’t mind. If I buy a jigg does it come with a clamp? When do you use the AAE pen? When you turn your arrow in the jigg how do you know where to put the next fletching? Is there a marker on the high that shows you were ?

Late to the party here, but did you have to do anything with the blazer vanes before glueing? New to the bow world and im really interested in building my own custom arrows.

But when you do a 4 fletch.. Do you do a 90 degree or a 70/110 degree? Not all jigs are made equally. My jig does them all because I set out the index holes. It can also helical and/or offset fletch

I heard you say you used an offset on the straight clamp but I don't think you showed it. I'm assuming that you use that 1/16 " offset of both the straight and helical clamp?

Have you ever had a issue with the vane not matching up even if you put them all on the same line on the clamp. What would be my issue? Sometimes I have one vane a little higher or lower than the other 2 vanes when I’m done.

If I move the top offset setting to the left, does that add more helical to the fletch? I only moved it a little like you suggested, but wasn’t sure if it added more helical.

When getting new arrows or fletching your own after using factory fletched arrows do you have to sight in again? Or should it be the same?

What about crossbow bolts? My crossbow uses two vane fletching which appears perfectly straight. I've been having issues trying to get hunting tips to fly straight. I'm adding extra weight to the front to see if this helps.

Hey so, quick question. First, thanks for always getting back to people, I really appreciate it. I've got a 30 inch draw, pulling 75 lbs, my arrow length is 30.25". I was thinking an Easton Axis with 260 spine or an FMJ with 250 spine. Are those spines going to be stiff enough? Thanks.

I am using 4 inch right wing turkey feathers sheild cut with fletching tape with a strait clamp and want to 4 fletch my arrows with a slight helical to them what angle should I the magnetic base at for the clamp to properly for my arrows?

Hey great video on fletching, I’m new to your channel and find it very informative. question for you..... I’m shooting a GT kinetic pierce four fletched straight at 90* with AAE pro max vanes out of a VXR. I wanted to determine the spin of my arrow so I marked and shot a bare shaft as well as a fletched arrow from about 2 yards and 20. The arrow didn’t spin left or right, no spin at all. Is that what I should have expected ?

Any thoughts on TAC driver vanes?

Could you show how to do one vein? I have a jig and a few arrows missing 1 vein. Faulty HDX. Getting the same alignment as the other two and getting the one in the right place. Thanks

I think you mean vane. Are your arrows 3 fletched or 4? I usually just line it up to the jig with the helical it need. Or just strip all the vanes and re-do them.

Some people will mark the unfletched arrow on the top and then observe which way it wants to spin naturally. It’s easier to help it spin that way rather than force it to spin the other. Just my 2 cents.

He said in another video that the direction the string is twisted is what creates the twist. Not right or left hand shooter

We don't sell Carter so its hard to get my hands on one. They're great releases though. I've shot them in the past.

They don't hurt anything. I just hate having to strip the whole wrap when I have to refletch and arrow

Whether its 'worth building' is up to you. Ive used shop made arrows.. The quality and accuracy of cut varies greatly. I build my own arrows inc cutting my own shafts. I made my own fletching jig. I make my own strings and cables. I made my own string jig. I set up and tune my own bows... How dependent on the archery store do you want to be?

Is the clamp a right helicle or straight? Is a right helicle too much for a 2" blazer vane?

Sort of a business type question... is there a place that we, as consumers, can buy bulk arrows assuming that we would want to be building our own. On a related question, it is worth building our own or are the cost margins too slim to be worth it? I know that I paid $110 for a dozen gold tips from Cabela's without the field heads.

Even arrows with non offset and non helical fletching spins. There is nothing wrong with straight fletching on a well tuned bow.

I'm so confused....can't I just buy arrows pre Fletched and to size? Please help, I'm lost. I'm buying a black hunter 30 inch 65 pound recurve take down bow and I am hoping to buy gold tip hunter arrows, I want my arrows for small game (rabbits foxes) medium game (kangaroo and deer) and large game (camels, monsterous cryptids etcetera...) So if I have a 30 inch bow I buy 30" or 31" arrows right? Or does the arrow length change with certain poundage aswell? Or is it the grain? I am gonna get 300 and 350 grain from what I see on the charts.... I dunno I'm so confused. Someone please help! I need a general rundown and introduction to archery or a reference to a good tutorial on KZread. Too much compound bow stuff and I'm getting really confused.

If it’s a straight clamp then yes, but this a helical. Measure the horizontal distance from the back of the clamp to 3” up the clamp versus 6. Very different

Come on man. Does the angle really change given the different lengths of Fletch? If the axis of the shaft is 0° and the angle of Fletch 12° what does the length of Fletch change? @thomas You are assuming the axis and the fletching are on the same plane. That is not the case. The fletching is wrapping around the axis. How I picture it is drawing a line from the back end of the fletching to the front. Shorter vane = less angle. I should charge for that lesson...😂 (Just a joke) 🤙🏻

@@stevegood3979 nah the angle is still the same, any variation as the vane attaches to the shaft is negligible that's why the clamps don't curve that way. In the grand scheme of things what does it matter anyway. Another interesting fact. Alcohol consumption has gone up during lock down by about 20% and so has dumb KZread comments, I can attest first hand.
