@@silverstorm1000 dependant on what acid u r talking about... hydrochloric acid is perfectly safe to wash of with water. I work with multiple acids ranging in strengths on a daily basis.. we carry cans of diphotorine around with us. If u get any acid on u, we spray with this and it neutralises the acid immediately. Again this product is suitable for the acids and alkalis we work with.
I had a High school chemistry teacher; he said he had to make tests using concentrated sulfuric acid. The teacher drew the sulfuric acid into his mouth the promptly spit the acid out. The acid got onto his shoes and ate a hole in them the next day. The teachers mouth was unharmed. He seemed like a general who sent his troops into battle and won even though he forgot the ammunition.

I heard once in the university laboratory that if you spill concentrated sulphuric acid onto your skin you should rinse it very thoroughly, not just splash a bit of water, because of dissociation. That is that if you just dilute the acid is worse than keeping it there.

When I worked in the chemical industry the sulphuric acid was delivered in steel tankers. To check there was no water present before the acid was unloaded the driver used to check the density of the concentrated acid using a special hydrometer.

If I ever could picture a stereotype of a scientist in my head. He would have the top prize. SCIENCE!
I love this man. He could talk about the material properties of wood and I would watch it. He’s just so wholesome.
Years ago I was installing a new plating lone at a chrome shop. The week previous someone had been doing maintenance on one of the existing lines and fallen on the chrome tank. It was full of just this chromium trioxide and sulfuric acid at 130F that a current was passed through to deposit the chrome on the parts. The individual survived the initial injury, but got chrome metal poisoning and dies a few weeks later. So the safety department did a whole presentation and the end of it was dipping in a cotton rag to the solution and throwing it on the floor. The end result was the rag auto-igniting and burning furiously from the heat generated and the release of oxygen from the decomposition of the chrome trioxide. I agree with Neil. His mixture is substantially more dangerous.
@Periodic Videos, It could be interesting to do the same experiment but with strong bases.
Sounds like Neil has given this matter a lot of thought. Has anyone gone missing in your area?

I've seen videos about victims of acid attacks where bystanders do nothing. Can you pour baking soda on the victim's face to help counteract the acid? Or would that make it worse?
