I played at the Chateau Impney, and I saw Pete Green playing with John Mayall at a little pub in the hills in Derbeyshire years later, great days when we were all young!!

Amazing to see this - I was at that festival and Fleetwood Mac (the original band which included Jeremy Spencer) were headlining that day, I think it was one of Danny Kirwan's first gigs with them. I was dark and pouring with rain when they came on but we didn't care - they were great!

The only Mac that matters

Yep , like yesterday , John Peel ,Radio 1 DJ was running the show as DJ and compere with his 'drole' manner and long hair . In a tent with drizzle on and off all day . At the time ,I was 17, they were just another band playing sort of dated stuff very loud ! Small Faces for me . Great memories.

It was outside ,the band played on a low stage in a tent . Cold and rainy. John Peel was compere .

There were no tickets. Just turned up and paid 7/6p at a makeshift entrance. All pre-decimal ,no security except for a BBC Radio van driver . Poor turnout because of the weather -cold wet and windy . I was 17 and had an Austin A35 van with a sleeping bag . Just to comment 7/6p was 35p in new money . Sound like nothing now but I was still at school ! Petrol was 5/4p a gallon two star !! (about 26 p a gallon ) Five star was 6/2p The whole gig was organised by John Peel who wore purple skin tight velvet flares with an Afghan coat and hair covering his face which he kept flicking about with his permanent cigaretted hand ! No film or photos exist to my knowledge -shame really . BBC might have some in their disorganised archive .
