    I disagree. A better guitarist and a better singer replacing a diva who, give him his just dues, had a unique approach to guitar. Don't miss Lindsey's vocals at all. And I love these heavier guitars. And Neil changed guitars, so that's three replacing Lindsey. But this isn't less, it's more, and more not in the sense of better, but more tones and different. Rockier.

    Normally I disagree with some comments I made 2+ years ago, but I still stand by this one. When they first announced Finn/Campbell would replace Buckingham, I had hope that they would breathe a new energy into Fleetwood Mac, like what Lawrence Gowan did for Styx. But they didn't. Not even any new Fleetwood Mac music to show the creativity of the new lineup in action. Lindsey Buckingham's new solo album is stellar. He had the creative energy and the musical drive, which is sorely missed in the Mac.

    I agree with a lot of the comments here. I do like Mike Campbell and think he did great with Tom Petty. However Mike has a real penchant for using very small guitar amps (Fender Princeton for example) and they just don't seem to mix well with the rest of the band. The lead guitar sound is lacking presence and is mostly buried behind the rest of the band where Lindsay's guitar rig would be much more central to the sound.

  • @FantasticF113

    @FantasticF113

    2 жыл бұрын

    For those people fanboying over Lindsay Buckingham, saying things aren't the same. These comments are obviously uninformed. Fleetwood Mac exited before LB and the last FM tour was their biggest in the band's history. This video is amateur footage shot from the side of the stage. Doesn't make for a great comparison and doesn't support your view very well. Numerous guitarists use small amps that get mic'd and run out to the PA system. It's been that way for years. Hell, I've done this a few times myself Some examples of artists using single 10" or 12" speaker amps; The Edge (Fender Tweeds), Carlos Santana (Dumble's), Billy Gibbons (Marshall MG's, which were also solid state amps, no less!), Regi Wooten (Peavey) and of course Mike Campbell - who famously uses whatever gets the job done As for what Neil Finn adds to the equation, his singing is a great compliment to both Stevie and Christine's voices. Mick and Neil have been mates for ages so Neil is a great fit. Stevie has known and worked with Mike for years and they get along famously. Also, if FM decide to record a new album, NF's song writing is arguably on par with some of Lennon-McCartney work and far exceeds LB writing ability - who sadly hasn't really done anything of note approaching 30 years Add in Mike's guitar work and I expect the result will be a new era of FM success. I think that people will be very, very surprised. I'll finish by saying LB is brilliant, but Mike and Neil are up for the challenge. FM existed long before LB and will continue on fine without him. I respect Lindsay and his past FM work, but most fans listening today don't even know who LB is.

    @@FantasticF113 I was going to comment on the bit about the phone recording. To really judge this show I would want to have been there, or heard a pro recorded mix. You are correct the amp size means nothing. It all gets sent to the board and out the power amps. The days of a wall of Marshall's was a 'cool factor' thing not a sound thing. I remember seeing Ted Nugent, the whole back stage was a wall of Fender amps. Looked cool ( and he swung in on a rope Tarzan style) but it didn't sound any different than any other rock band I had seen. The other thing is they are all mid 70s. Not going to match shows from 25 years ago. Pick any two, and the combined weight would be of the whole band, back when Rumours was recorded! - Cheers

Mike Campbell and Neil Finn are doing an admirable job. Given the shoes they got to fill ... like Peter Green and Danny Kirwan and Bob Welch and Dave Mason and Rick Vito. scottjamescouper I hope you realize, Lindsey is worth more than mick and Stevie put together. He wrote alot (most) of their best songs, biggest songs. Christine is better than Stevie. His solo career never was huge, but he had some hits in the 80’s. And, he’s one of the best guitarists to ever grace a stage. Miles ahead of mike Campbell, who’s miles ahead of Finn.

    Oh, Only Stevie is allowed to not do an album or go on tour when it doesn't fit her needs. Who says we all go to see Stevie? I go to see the group of 5 people who gave me the best music I remember. This is not that. She said more or less "to hell with the fans, I will do what I want." Give me a break They went out on a very low note and deprived the true fans of a real FM experience on this last tour. Sad that they would sell themselves out like this for a buck and kick us fans all in the face. If they couldn't stand Lindsey, then it was time to retire. Don't put us fans through the lackluster BS tour like they did here.

    I agree. I love Fleetwood Mac and Crowded House but Neil Finn is a disaster in Buckingham's place. Both times I've seen the Mac the tension between Nicks and Buckingham has been palpable and a crucial part of the performance, and some of Buckingham's guitar playing has been incendiary. He's key to the whole sound of the band post Peter Green.

    No it's a plane crash, train wreck doesn't adequately describe the aural pain inflicted. It's a pity most of the audience are too young to remember them in their prime when it all had an 'edge' about it. When it was new, fresh and you really felt the energy and tensions within the band. Now it's just limp and everyone on stage looks bored and is saying 'how many shows until the end of tour and where's my money?'. I guess I'd be like that if I'd been playing the same stuff for 40 years plus. Good on Lindsey who at least is trying new stuff and continues to perform like he means business. He is a talent and an entertainer all in one.

This version of the band is very talented....but that song is a signature song for Lindsey it just didn't have the same energy without him. Fleetwood Mac should have a contract for every band member to sign saying that they will NEVER do a concert without all of the band members from Lindsey Buckingham's time with them being there on the same stage. Lindsey was the dynamics behind Fleetwood Mac and it cannot and should not be called by that name unless LIndsey is there taking part. I TOO AM AMAZED AND VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT STEVIE WOULD TAKE PART IN THIS FUCKING CHARADE. SHE MUST BE ON HER HAUNCHES FOR CASH AND THIS PROVES THAT BEYOND ANY DOUBT. THEY ARE ALL MULTI-MILLIONAIRES AND HAVE MORE THAN ENOUGH MONEY TO LAST THEM TWENTY LIFETIMES....EXCEPT STEVIE MAYBE. PROBABLY ALL SNORTED AWAY. Funny mentioning finances, because Mick Fleetwood wasn't doing well in that category himself. He outright went BANKRUPT. But what does that argument about Lindsey's finances even have to do with anything? My comment simply stated that the current lineup of Fleetwood Mac is a disaster. They do not measure up to the Rumours era band and they have not proven their ability to move on without Lindsey. But that alone isn't necessarily what bothers me. What really puts the current Fleetwood Mac lineup on my forever-shitlist isn't the fact that they replaced Lindsey Buckingham, but the disrespectful way that his long time bandmates treated him, and continue to treat him. Even when Lindsey is recovering from heart problems - literally almost dying of a broken heart - Mick continues to shit all over him in interviews. I am honestly waiting with bated breath for Fleetwood Mac to disband. Maybe they will someday apologize to Lindsey and even bring him back for a final show/tour, or maybe they will someday make a new studio album that is very good and starts off a Styx-like resurgence for Fleetwood Mac. But I don't have high hopes for either happening any time soon.
