@@wor53lg50 Hi mate, well, i did sail (in a motoryacht that is, a No Limit 1500) from IJmuiden to London and we stayed in the Royal Thames Yachtclub harbour just next to Tower Bridge. It was an epic sight to see that beautiful river and city. Coming in from the North sea into the Thames estuary with all those strange fortifications is a treat itself.

Love this video, i come from a military family, my dad was in the navy on the ship called: Piet Hein in the 60's, all my uncles also did serve the Navy. Even our government did strip military out to almost nothing left? I'm still proud our navy and it always reminds me of my dad.

I hope they enjoy their visit to my City as much as I enjoy visiting Holland. Welcome.

Perhaps it is the sunlight, but some of that footage makes Devonport look unexpectedly exotic !! Thats a significant proportion of the Dutch navy that has arrived so it must be an important exercise that they are planning.

Typical dutch to have a class called Karel Doorman and a JSS with the same name thats not the first built of a class.... The original frigate with that name was sold to Belgium and was renamed Leopold I (F930)

The Dutch Navy send their ships and crews over to the UK to undergo Royal Navy FOST - Fleet Operational Sea Training. Its the same training that every RN surface ship and crew undergo. They go through a very rigorous set of trials and tests so the Dutch Navy can make sure training is as required and they can interop with the Royal Navy and NATO ships..
