    A real great and fun video. I envy you, when you go to a flea market we're talking real big flea market! ;) As a Swede i thought it was pretty funny to see Europes "Out of this world" there in a flea market in USA! Take care!

    Fun walking with you and hearing your comments, and the NY vendors .....it is so funny how we can remember a lot of what records we own, but can't remember to take out the garbage. Good pointing out, how some of the flea market folks just inflate those prices. Love those Monster mags, but I can not find them cheap. Steve

    Looks like the one bin of decent records had a couple Good Rats records in it. They were a local Long Island band, had a few good songs in the 70's.

    It is sorta comforting to know that the same albums, bu the same artists, in the same condition are in every flea market all around the world. I could have been going through a bin here in Sydney with the exact same LPs - fascinating! I have begun collecting more rare reel to reel tapes of albums not on CD/re-issued. If they are in good condition the quality is amazingly good. That Ella RtoR I would have died for BTW! Great Video Joe...

    I don't know if I ever encountered an outside flea market when I lived there... I know Thom goes to the VFW show... You are right - that pile would have been considered great since we are nowhere near a proper store.

    +Elvis Presley Collector -- It's better in the summer. Last year there was a vendor who was selling minty Elvis LPs, many in their original shrink wrap (I didn't record him, though). If you look back to my video #'s 260, 261 and 272, 273 you will see some other Elvis-related scores from the flea market (not many records, mainly books and memorabilia) by a guy who basically gave everything away for free.

    The 1st interesting records I saw were Casper and Mighty Mouse at 18'24, unless they were more than a buck, of course. Then you said they were in trashy condition. So, found nothing. At least you picked one album!

    That Beatles poster was sold by Sid Bernstein for $15.00 at J and R Music World where he was promoting the release of the Beatles at Shea on VHS which the Beatles blocked. This was back in 1995 if I remember correctly. I was there and Purchased one which was signed by him. There was one small stack of the posters behind the register wrapped in brown paper. No one knew if they're overruns that he kept from the 1966 concert or if thy were printed just for this occasion. They are on thin glossy paper stock like most posters of this type. Mine is framed with an unused ticket from that concert.

    At 10:12 think I saw you past through The Amboy Dukes first album. That album is pretty hard to find(any of their 60s albums are hard to find anyway, they had 3 albums in that era). I only have their first album(out of the studio albums), I only seen it once and had to get it. Mine was about $7 and its in average shape. Underrated early Psych Hard Rock

    Some great records in some of the boxes, Grand Funk, Frank Zappa Elvis live double, I would have brought some of them. What were you looking for, apart from the Beatles?

  • @MeanMrMayo

    @MeanMrMayo

    +MrColjazz -- I'm looking for anything that strikes me, but generally speaking the records at flea markets and thrift stores are below my personal standards in terms of condition. I have found some good or unusual records for sure there at times, but it's rare. My usual record stores usually have better records in better quality. I also simply like making digging videos because viewers seem to have fun with them.

    In my rock snob opinion, flea market / used LPs are JUNK. Overpriced too. The Salvation Army & Goodwill are even worse--great if you like Montovani & Mitch Miller. Regarding Sid Bernstein, I actually saw him sitting at a table ASLEEP at a record show! Maybe that's when he died. He's lived off his Shea Stadium Beatles story for 50 years. YEESH!

  • @MeanMrMayo

    @MeanMrMayo

    Overall I would agree regarding Goodwill and The Salvation Army. But I have found many good records at decent flea markets since the 1970's. Sometimes there are actually regular dealers at my flea markets, and not just someone throwing out their grandfather's chewed-up Mitch Miller records. Your mileage at your flea markets may vary.

    I'd agree for the most part unless the person is a record dealer or knows about taking care of them otherwise they will be left in the beating sun, stacked 50 high and dusty as hell.
