Any paper that comes in rolls and has to be cut is curved. But UArt sanded pastel paper is exceptionally difficult to flatten. Here I'm showing how I am flattening 320 grit paper that I've recently cut an 18" x 24" swath from a roll. I need it flat for two reasons: so I can cut it into smaller sizes more easily AND so I can paint on it with my soft pastels. If I don't flatten it, it has a tendency to curve off the backing board. I may also dry mount it to some archival foam core for when I go plein air painting.
