Thank you so much for this tutorial. I have a TL-wr710n and the software that you used was the only one that could send and execute serial commands in the router. although the TFTP feature did not work for me and I had to use another TFTP server.

Sir recently I deleted some of files of my router Huawei b310s-927 21.333 by using telnet connection using putty software. I deleted system folder of my router. that contained all commands like (rim, touch, mkdir .etc..) after that i was unable to use rm and reset commands. and then I after restarting the router by unplugging the wire, my router only showing a signal power light. what should I do how can I do flash firmware in my router's chip. I use traditional softwares but not working because that folder has all the commands that I deleted.

is this method only for tp-link or we can apply on any router? for example tenda router n301 v6

Excelent video, i was wondering if i can do it with a raspberry pi 2 and a TP-Link Archer C50? My router is dead, only glows a orange led once, thats it, no more functionality. I connect the serial from the GPIO to the serial interface of the router but it doesn't show anything in minicom. Clould be any solution for my specific case?? Thanks in advance and sorry for my English, isn't my primary language.

Hi, hard to say next step is to check a hardware replacement, perhaps you have short somwhere on circuit. Learn to measure with a multimeter.;)

Don’t need to, as you only using GND, TX, RX pin. Appropriate voltage will be provided by router's own DC charger.

You can make one at home. There are so many videos available to make it. Or you can buy a simple one. Its not expensive.

hi, I have a ZBT WRT8305RT router.During an openwrt firmware update (LEDE Luci) the power was cut off and therefore the firmware update operation was not completed, so the router has stopped.The reset button fails to start.I noticed it lights up. The LED of the relevant LAN or WAN port also lights up (so it recognizes that the RJ45 socket has been inserted) the LEDs flash, but I don't know how to recover it.The firmware is definitely damaged, I tried to inject and rewrite the same firmware (taken from the openwrt site) directly on the chip (which I unsoldered from the router motherboard) by means of special software and hardware (USB) made on purpose to rewrite the eprom, but no change happens.I'm afraid the booloader has been damaged (it's a UBOOT) how can I fix this?I tried the procedure of powering up with the reset button already pressed, but it is not possible to start.With the firmware lede luci had IP 192.168.5.1;originally had IP192.168.1.1.You cannot open the web page with either 192.168.5.1 or 192.168.1.1.

why didn't you just reset the router? but if you have firmware for your router you can do it even simpler

I don't think so, because you need a stable dataflow connection without interrupts.

I have asus srt-ac1900. It was listed as openwrt-compatible but there’s no interface to install the new image. So I plan on going the serial route. Do you think it will work?

;) why you mean? - The wrist band is connectet to the blue working plate and this one is grounded too...

Power is provided from router's own charger . Now you might ask why Ground? Ground should be common /connected when ever you transfer data over wires. And Tx for transferring, Rx for receiving data.
