A few years ago P&G came out with a new, buff, updated version of the hairless wonder during the Super Bowl, inexplicably turning him into a sex symbol for the ladies and men alike. Maybe there's a new Count Chocula in the works to capitalize on the vampire craze.

I was 20 months old, turning 2 that May. Some of music's best died in plane crashes unfortunately, including Patsy Cline, Jim Croce and Rick Nelson. One of the cool things about '70s music is that many songs had Doo-Wop ties to the '50s including 'Crocodile Rock', 'Sugar Baby Love' , 'Only You' (Ringo's) and 'Star Baby' to name 4. The '70s wanted to BE the '50s, remember?

I seem to remember a little back then, I think it was in 59 or 60 when my dad couldn't buy beer on Sundays in bottles or cans, he had to bring beer home in a round cardboard container, maybe the size of a quart. It must of been draft beer. I remember trying to make a boat to put in the pond from the round cardboard container.

Wow. That Chuck Berry story is one I'd never heard. I didn't realize the Grammys were so young. The 1959 World Series featured the "Go Go" Chicago White Sox and the Los Angeles Dodgers who played their games in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum that was used for the 1932 Olympics. Due to this, home runs to left were just 250-feet away if you could clear a 42-foot mesh screen. It appears VP Nixon and wife Pat were on hand for the opening of the monorail. While wearing women's clothes was a major part of the joke in "Some Like It Hot", it was clear that Curtis and Lemmon were guys who dressed that way to avoid mobsters, not attempting to bend gender roles. On to the turbulent Sixties, one of my favorite decades.

1959 is also the year that I was born which should've eclipsed everything else in this video. I have filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit to collect on damages and a severe case of butt hurt syndrome. But I'm willing to settle out of court for some homemade chilli burgers and cheesecake. 😅 😋

To add to the creepy factor of 1959, along with Clutter family killings in Kansas by Dick Hickcock and Perry Smith, the spree killer Charles Starkweather was put to death in the electric chair in Nebraska for his murders the previous year - the last person in Nebraska to receive the death penalty until 1994. Something weird in those wheat and corn fields back then.

Used to think it sounded old to say I was born in the 50's. But know that I am old it's cool. My mom had me in September. Spent all summer on the beach out on LI. Nurses commented on her tan. I was born at 4:44am. Probably the reason I've never been a morning person. Dad showed up after work & immediately changed my name. They were convinced I was a boy & picked out Terence Michael. Opps! Having no girl name picked out my mom used her's A family name, also her grandmothers & aunts. Old fashioned to say the least. Both agreed on Sheila & there we are. Mom still here, still sits out on the beach. 🌞
