@@secrets.295 Like she said, it is a free country. Trans women get to participate in beauty pageants and people like you get to complain. I truly hope that we as Americans get to shape the meaning of free country to acceptance. Trans people should embrace their beauty in every platform that they decide to participate in. If anything, they should be admired for going through so much for them to live their authentic self. And on top of that, to compare their beauty to natural born women or men on beauty pageants. Really, there isn’t any advantage from their part! When it comes to sport, that’s another story. The levels of testosterone in trans women should be controlled, before their participation. That’s just my opinion. However, I do believe that the world is slowly becoming more inclusive and that gives me a lot of hope, despite all the resistance from conservative people.

I notice how she quickens her answer towards the end. She did the same way in answering at miss universe. (Shows she is aware of the time limit but also shows she doesn’t have a sure answer and ends it safely and quickly because of time limitations). Was still a good answer. She deserved that Miss USA crown.

That was a politically-correct answer. However, I personally think that if transgender women wants to be in a pageant, then they should hold a pageant of their own. Being a woman is not just about having breasts & a vagina! Still, there are roles of a natural-born woman that a transgender one cannot do and that major role is being able to bear a child. I also believe that a Miss USA is a celebration of what a natural-born woman is. It's not about feminism but women who worked hard throughout their lives, women who are successful in their own right & were able to break barriers that some men weren't able or what only men used to do. I think that is the real essence of this pageant. If you put a transgender woman in it, then you defeat that purpose.

We have a 51 year old trans professor in my province that identifies as a teen girl. They allow him to swim with and join teen girls in the change rooms because...why not right? So stunning and brave. He does dominate these teen girls at swimming too...like by several seconds in each event. ❤

Are you talking about a boxing match or a violence? Well if it’s violence, violence is generally a crime regardless of gender. So if the violence was committed by a “natural born” woman against a “transgender” woman, therefore, the “natural born” woman should be apprehended. Same thing if the situations were switched. The apprehension will be given to those who committed violence against anyone. Hope this answers your question. 😊

I dont think its fair as natural born men are stronger than women so they would have a fair advantage and thats why we dont see this happening. There was even a woman who had to be tested to see if she was transgender as she was very masculine and unfortunately for her she was just born like that! I cant remember her name but it was in the olympics.

If you think about it, her question in Miss Universe is almost the same questions that were asked of Miss Philippines 2010 Venus Raj and Miss Colombia 2008 Taliana Vargas and both those ladies couldn’t answer it properly. Olivia’s answer when she said that whatever mistakes you make in life that you learn from it, sealed the deal for her to win Universe. Very smart lady.

Good answer for a pageant but my answer is in real life is fuck no! you should be a natural born female. Men get everything in life and his is a contest for WOMEN. providing women with opportunities. men shouldn't be allowed to step onto territory that's classed only for women.

I think former Miss Universe Gabriela Isler summarized quite nicely why she disagreed on allowing transgender women participate in Miss Universe. Since the past, women were born and immediately perceived to be the weaker gender and had so many restrictions and stereotypes imposed on them unfairly (even until today) and that was why such pageants come about to give women a platform to empower other women. While transgenders have their own set of struggles, transgender women did not need to go through the struggles natural-born women have to go thru just for being women. They just become women after surgery and that was why she felt Miss Universe is not the appropriate platform for transgender women.

@Amy Nguyen I have to say that Olivia’s response, to me, was one of the brilliant way to address this issue. I am not a trans, but her mentioning “them needing to change for a happier life” gave me another perspective of this issue and I owe it to her.

Simply because Olivia is way more stunning than Janine. It doesn’t really matter how Janine answered that question. She was very lucky to even reach 1st runner up. She’s one of the weakest Miss Philippines in the last decade to be honest. So to be standing next to Miss USA, Venezuela & Australia that year should already be a great honor to the Philippines given that they sent a very weak candidate that year.

Agent totally agree!! Janine was arguably the least facially beautiful girl in that top 5. Her performance could’ve been as great as the Filipino fans call it but it’s the overall package at the end of the day. To say that she’s robbed is an insult to many other beautiful contestants that did not win Miss Universe and should’ve, e.g. USA 1970, USA 1986, Greece 2001, just to name a few.
