The point of the video was that they didn't have a good chance to even use flash, instead they went with better and more efficient win lines.

Yes. They where mana counters? If so, I use a single card with all 6 symbols and use dice to show what's in the pool. Enjoyed seeing those counters tho. Uber cute.

I find it really cool that the format is in such a consistent and powerful state that cards like Last Chance and Mindbreak Trap are mainstays of the format. Just few years ago they werent on anyone's radar.

Double rog/si probably not a good example for this test... Should probably done kinnan and blue farm since they are the most popular and arguably top 2. Or even 1 rog/si with something else.

I love Zain’s smol ame tokens.

the actual insane thing is that borne upon a wind is basically final fortune for 1U but you don't lose the game if you whiff. Flash does give potential for that turn 0 instant speed win which is the main selling point. The only bad thing is you're forced to include a bunch of inefficient creatures. The actually crazy thing is how many cEDH staples there are now that you can't even spare 4 slots for a hulk pile.

There was a lot of weird interaction thrown around. For example, I would not misstep a Dark Ritual if a silence and a defence grid are on the stack and I am not the next player in turnorder.

I used to watch the ads in the beginning. I always skip them mid way through. If you want a retention gap during the ad, then keep them in the middle.

When do we get a restock of the card sleeves? I'm tryna flex too

Maybe the hulk line was not the best choice, maybe hulk into spellseeker, thoracle and blood pet would be better

In game two the Thrasio’s/Tymna player couldn’t Force of Negation the Final Fortune for its alternate cost.

I was looking for this comment , the whole podcast they listed like 2 subjective reasons why born is bad and one of them being there's like "multiple other cards you can play like this" and then only using final fortune as the only other example. AND ALANA EVEN KEPT FF G1S1. And still blew the table out with good timing. Lots of people in CEDH community are obsessed with their own opinions on what cards to play when it literally is the most casual, still non sanctioned format. I had to unfortunately stop listening to their podcast because it's so counter-creative .

Maybe they are just not good flash players?

Would you look at that almost seems like we have far easier ways to win in cedh now lmao

why don't we get to see any deck changes or opening hands in Game 2?

Deck changes aren't allowed in EDH, and the opening hands would be groovy to see. They were probably trying to save time. Most peeps have tik-tok brain.

I like the "overrated" card make the MVC tonight. It definitely has a place, and yes I listened to the podcast. Flash should definitely be on the table of conversations, it's always rule 0 in my games. Stay groovy and thanks to everyone for their work. 👉😎👉💯

Why was flash banned again? Does the flash combo work with any other creature other than protean hulk? While Born upon a Wind doesn't put the creature directly onto the battlefield, it does give all your spells flash for the exact same mana cost.

If I remember correctly, Flash enabled Protean Hulk combo lines because it can put AND sacrifice Protean Hulk in instant speed, looking and putting combo winning creatures into the battlefield. Flash hulk lines were very popular in CEDH, and when Thassa's Oracle came into existance... well, Flash gained another great creature to put into the battlefield in instant speed. If today you need to put T'oracle into the battlefield and resolve Demonic Consultation, with Flash you could do this in instant speed and with a generic mana instead. Many games were decided by being the first player to cast - and resolve - a flash combo line (hulk package or oracle package). I think this was the main reason of the banning... there is a article by the RC explanning the ban of flash somewhere in the internet, maybe it can explain something that i forgot

Flash had an exclusive opening hand that allows it to combo off turn 0. The combo basically bled off into casual and like Paradox engine when it bleeds into casual peeps get butt hurt and it gets put to the test by the admins of EDH, to see if it's ban-hammer time.

@@justinnicolathyme Actually, it didn't bleed into casual at all. Flash Hulk is the kind of thing you only ever do with intent. Anyone putting it in their decks knew exactly how degenerate it was. The Flash ban was a one-off for the cEDH community that a lot of people begged for (partially because its primary cEDH competitor at the time, Paradox Engine, had just gotten the axe for creating _accidentally_ degenerate board states in casual), and since it had at best extremely minimal impact on casual, the RC agreed to it.

I still think only paying 2 mana for a razaketh/atraxa with zero warning is a bit much.

Atraxa gets the trigger, but Razaketh wouldn't do anything. You could not activate Raz's ability before it went to the graveyard.

Hmmm, I recently watched a podcast where they called Borne Upon a Wind... OVERRATED! Hahaha, maybe it's better than we thought.

Flash was like almost exclusively used in hulk lines. Like that is how it was almost always used.

I love how borne was mvp after being the thumbnail on the overrated vid 🤡

Fluster counters an instant or sorcery, but also Thassas had already resolved so you would need to counter an ability to stop
