The best but still safe mix for the biggest and loudest confined bang is KCLO4 and MgAl with a 50/50 mix by weight. If you can, get at least 1000 mesh or 2000 mesh MgAl. Screen or mix on paper . Screen the Oxidizer separately to get it free flowing so it mixes well with the Mgal. Worked in Fireworks factory for several years. My nickname is old BOOM. 😊😊

If you mix KCLO4 flash powder in the right quantity with extremely fine aluminum and Sulphur it is actually self confining. You can get incredible detonation velocity for a mechanical pyrotechnic mixture.

Actually you can substitute that perk with potassium nitrate, and instead of mag/al just use mag. 50/50 mix. Whatever makes you make at 10% sulfur and you got a very powerful very safe flash.

33/33/33 for a bigger bang. 70/30 with the right oxidizer beat kclo3 and kclo4. Detonation can’t be achieved with flash powder. For detonation the speeds needs to be 3000m/s.

But perchlorate not available on regular shop. Only available for industry. So potassium nitrate still good substitution and far more cheap

Ive been using Indian aluminum for yrs, never tried any other but i really like it!

I've tried the german and indian and I probably wouldnt be able to tell a difference unless I was to do them side by side. I think the indian might be just a hair weaker but that's probably expectation bias on my end due to it being cheaper. My main gripe is with how hygeoscopic the oxidizer is. I can screen it as many times as I want but once it's mixed it balls up and I jave a bunch of clumps of oxidizer in my comp. I wonder if it's enough to throw off the ratio.

Interesting ... I think this is the first time adding *sulfur* to flash powder has been mentioned. Is it supposed to have the same effect as adding it to *_black powder_* does?

Adding sulfur to most compositions lowers the ignition point to make it easier to lite.

I have not tried it yet but on a small budget so I don't what to buy it and it does not go boom thank you travis.

The 200 mesh aluminum was a slower flash power unconfined but worked OK confined. Not as powerful as 3 micron aluminum but will work in a pinch I'll do a video once I get to it. Thanks

They spray molten aluminum onto sheets of paper then rolled super thin, after super thin it gets the paper burned off in an over which leaves a residue of pure carbon. Which in turn makes the aluminum a Lil "dirty" with pure carbon which we pyro fans love. 👌

The company that you ordered the powders from that's based in Georgia have you had any issues with them giving your information to say law enforcement?

I don't do anything illegal with my chemicals but small fireworks so it doesn't matter if they no or not. They can show up anytime they want for a surprise inspection doesn't matter to me. But to answer your question not that I no about.

Here's a suggestion to increase the burn rate even more, you could mill the oxidizer for 24 hours in a very clean ball mill jar and the oxidizer might clump after but you can always screen the oxidizer after milling and this solved the slow flash problem for homemade dark aluminum in my experience and for some reason 5:5 ratio is way faster than 7:3 after milling the oxidizer, and I figured that out by mixing a 1:1 ratio of milled oxidizer and homemade dark aluminum and it went *Thump* like a thump powerful enough to quake a punk stick with only 70-100 milligrams unconfined

The oxidizer I use is very fine Chinese kclo4 with anti-cake milling it is not an option with the anticake. It's fine enough for flash powder.

Ummm yeah. When it's confined it forces it to create alot of pressure to escape. If that dude would have used the same amount of powder he was testing in a tube, it would have been one hell of a bang.

Ball milled cheap aluminum foil that was ran thru paper shredder then a coffee grinder then added 95% aluminum to 5% willow or balsa charcoal ball milled for 5 days opening the mill jar twice a day to let air in.

I have also used my homemade aluminum powder which is 95% aluminum foil and 5% carbon (eastern red cedar) and have had success. BUT I have lost more to spontaneous combustion than iv been able to keep. After the 48 hour mark of ball milling the jar needs to be opened atleast twice a day, at least. Wouldn't hurt to open the jar 4 or 5 times a day to let oxygen in and give the media time to cool a bit.

Regular flash at 7/3 kclo4/al This is the industry standard. Once confined in a shell it's as safe as any other composition we use.

Bro next time tape about 3/4 of the fuse then lay the compound on top of the taped fuse.

@@jeremyarnold1979 Indian gives u the best balance of bass, power, and sound/pressure output. There's a 3 micron atomized that hits HARD af too! I guess people avoid it cuz its atomized but its a lil more expensive for a reason, the shyt puts out a crazy pressure wave. I only see a couple KZread vids of people using it im guessing cuz nobody knows that 3 micron atomized works tremendously in salutes. It was actually the 1st Aluminum i ever worked with.

Hansen, German aint the fastest. 2 micron Indian is. Almost all Indian is faster. But i dont use cab-o-sil cut Chinese kclo4, i use High Purity only. No cheap chems this way.

In my personal testing, the 325 w/anticake compared to high purity kclo4 the wad no distinction between the 2. So I use anticake for ease of mixing. The high purity seems to clump and needs screened before mixing. Using the Chinese stuff rite out the bag and aluminum out the bag straight to mixing.

53% kno3 33% Al 14% S make your kno3 way finer and use 5 micron Al

And there are other flash powders but I'm not going to get into the detail because they are more of volatile

Yes I have 18 different types that I use. Some leave a dark black cloud and some leaves a grey cloud and iv got 2 types that are dark salutes that can't be seen.😉

To make blackhead aluminum all you had to do is ball mill Willow charcoal make sure it's Willow then you mix it 50/50 or 3050 30 Willow 50 aluminum make sure you Mill it for about 7 days each not together make sure you breathe the aluminum out of the ball mill so it don't explode or combust

Potassium chlorate actually makes any mix a lil less stable and more sensitive. We stay away from it. Its less stable, more sensitive but, performance is lower than perchlorate.

Ok so im not hating but a few things I must say about this video that I have to say because people imitate what they see and a couple things he did where extremely dangerous. First never stand that close even with unconfined because certain mixtures can act completely differently and 10 grams of unconfind will detonate like a high explosive. ALSO DONT BE SMOKING A CIGARETTE ESPECIALLY OVER 5 EXPLOSIVES (yes we all saw your ash fall) but the biggest "DONT DO" is when lightning them off do not use a bic lighter or light it in your hand because you could very easily left residue on the Fuze then go to light it and BOOM no more fingers! Also the same goes for placing one in the same spot you just lit one off at for the same reason, one amber then all of a sudden no more fingers. The propane touch was the way to go and the fuzes where even better or anything that keeps you and your fingers away from it. Flash will always catch you by surprise, I know from experience so please all be safe! I've seen 1 gram of unconfind punch a hole through a metal Petri dish and made a 7 inch Circle of grass just disappear so now imagine that but with ten grams and your standing 4 feet away. Hope this helps and have fun blowing shit up lol
