It has a meaning. It was a flim used in some classes for discussion about sexual orientation and identity. Of course, it uses stereotypes - but this was on purpose.

Well, I mean, they're flamboyant, pretty and love to party so that might have something to do with it. In all seriousness, it's probably just a dumb but admittedly funny in a messed up kinda way joke on the part of the creators. This film was clearly _not_ meant to be taken seriously. That said, homosexuality _has_ been observed in flamingos--in that case, they're gay because that's just how they were born (hatched?).

Flamingos are *FABULOUS*!!

No its not homophobic at all. Imagine it in reverse. Samething all the other flamingos weren't gay and he was. What phobia would that be? Imagine this in real life and you were the only gay person around? Did you not feel like this bird did? Did that make you a heterophobe? No it made you the only gay around.
