Instead of routing to mix bus 10 can you just add the effects in master track?

so recently I was overviewing the melody free course (like first or second). and I wondered how you highlight only the second note s in the cord. I tried to hightlight the four 2nd cords and i could only highlight one at a time as it would deselct the previous note. any help? much appreciated
