I'm proud to be Swedish and see all Swedish companies go global. Fjällräven, Fällkniven, Mora, Trangia, Icebugs, Haglöfs... Keep showing this great products!!

Oh man, we don't have Haglöfs here in Canada yet, but I've seen them while travelling, and the stuff is just amazing. Expensive, but amazing. Can't wait to get them here. Definitely love my Mora knife too.

@@Marvinovo I don't see why they don't make it in Estonia (I have one piece of fjallraven gear that actually is) but i have never had an issue with their stuff made in Vietnam. they seem to do a very good job and quality control is superb.
Fjällräven is one of the best companies making clothes for wilderness in my opinion. They are really aware of the environment in the making of the products which is for me a huge deal, I pick up my trash when I'm hiking and I want the makers of my gear to have the same mentality when crafting the clothes I am wearing. :) Greetings from Sweden, Love your videos!
"Wool is just cool. Wool is where it's at. " So true!
in sweden, there is not unusual for youngsters to inherit their parents old fjallraven gear as it holds up for 30 years easily if you take care of it. and its really nice quality and have had the same "timeless" design for many years.
I have lots of fjallraven gear and it's excellent, especially their "Numbers" series and also no. 21 rucksack - brilliant! G1000 fabric is not waterproof though, but showerproof, even with treatment of wax, but it does dry rapidly and is hard-wearing. Great kit for tough outdoorsmen and women.
I have the Barents Pro trousers and they are the best pair o pants I have ever had. Best for hiking, camping and especially bush-craft and bushwhacking. They are bulletproof.
I'm huge fan of Fjallraven as well for all the reasons you mentioned. My wrangler shirts have that small slip in the chest pocket. Perfect place for a pen while working in the field. -Krik

That is definitely some excellent gear. Thanks Joe.
As a fellow lightweight I am glad that Fjallraven gear has a sung fit. I can definitely see funds being spent a set. Great videos keep up the good work man!
The main reason my girlfriend and i buy Fjallraven pants is that they make them in very long sizes leg wise. We both had our pants with us in Canada May 2015 and they where the only pair of long pants we had with us and we loved them. Great video Joe!!
Im from Sweden and we have fjällräven outlets here.. still pretty expensive but excellent quality! Environmentally friendly top.
Keep the videos coming! Very inspirational to get outdoors.
Glad you did this video because lately I've seen you guys all wearing fjallraven gear. Now I'm for sure getting some of my own. Thanks Joe, big fan here.
Hey Joe, just got a pair of the Keb Gaiter Trousers because of this video! Love your vids and it's great to see a fellow Canadian be successful on KZread!
Thanks Joe for another informative review. That looks like great quality clothing. I enjoy your channel so...please keep the videos coming!
I've had the vidda pros for just over a year now and they are by far my favorite pants.Minus the gas station looks like you said.
Picked up a pair of Barret Pro Pants a few months back, grey/black, bullet proof trousers with plenty of pocket space. Like hiking in them but also wear them around the house and at work because their so comfortable. I'm a fan and feel their worth the money.
As a Swede its amazing hearing you prononce Fjällräven :D Awesome vid, broski. Cheers from a swedish bushcrafter
Fjallraven stocks have now skyrocketed ! My keb jacket has the same venting design as the pants (1 zip on each side under the arm) I've waxed both my keb jacket and vidda pants with 2 layers - added some weight but worth it in the winter/or heavy wet conditions...You got class man !
I just purchased the Keb jacket and I am excited to wear it!
Thanks for the info on the pants very good piece of gear to wear.
Fjallraven gear is awesome, especially the Greenland shirt and jeans. Great for indoor, outdoor, or inbetween. I have been itching to go camping again just so I can really put my gear to the test.
thigh zips are a huge bonus and too often overlooked. Well executed in these pants. Makes these pants perfectly justified for hot and cold weather. brilliant
Fantastic full review. Very well thought out pattern and material of those pants.
As a guy said in the comments. Here in Sweden people often inherit or borrow their parents fjällräven stuff like jackets, bagpacks, etc. Im using my dads fjällräven pants when im out but he's a bigger guy than me so they're not my size really. Gonna buy myself a pair of Vidda pro soon. Fjällräven is amazing and will pretty much last forever.
Great review Joe thanks just what I needed
you cant go wrong with fjallraven those are the best outdoor gear producers around expensive but well worth it i got several pairs of the vidda pro and love them

I have two jackets that are 16 years old still going strong. Recently I got the Brenner pro set for the winter I don't think it's as well made as it used to be but time will tell. I will be using my gear in nasty winter beach conditions so it will be tested well
I bought fjallraven/Fjällräven Kajka 75L and totally love it. Also tried those trousers on and will probably buy them also. Awesome gear and will subscribe and see what more you will review!
Ok, I normally can’t stand watching description/opinion videos, because well, I hate most people. But I enjoyed your video Joe. You seem to be genuine in nature and not looking/begging for admiration. I also agree with your stance on Fjallraven quality. Great video.
Love watching that stuff :)
Great review! I've been looking at the Fjallraven line of pants. Now you got me looking at the rest of their clothing line as well! I also just became a subscriber to your channel. Keep up the great work!
Big fan of you and big fan of fjall. from korea.
Hi Joe, I've used the vidda pro trouser for about 6 months now, and I'm really impressed with them , I was avidised when I purchased them to use the wax every third wash , not only for the water proofing quality but more to prolong the material , The guy in the shop told me they will last a lot longer, particularly in the high stress areas like the knees, as the wax acts almost like a lubricant against the fibres when in use. One thing I would say tho is even with the wax these trousers are not waterproof at all, I spent a lot of time really being very careful to apply the wax all over especially the seems but even in light rain they just get wet strait away , but I still think there a great product and I will buy other products in the future

I never waxed mine and I've been using my oldest pair for around 20 years now :-)
Nice!!! I definitely agree... although you're paying more money up front for a quality wardrobe it will last longer and keep you more comfortable during trips... for sure worth it.
Thanks, Clark
The pronunciation is passable Joe! :-) The word Fjäll (fjäll), are what we call mountains in the nordic region of europe and Räven (raven) means as you surely have guessed from the logo...a fox. So I guess Mountain Fox is the right translation. Really like these clothes to, and the G1000 Greenland wax is totally awsome! The prices are very high yes but I see it as an investment, the entire brand is about quality.
Great looking pants man... But just can't justify that lofty price. Really enjoy watching your videos. You come across as very energetic and interesting personality. Keep up the good work.
definitely saving up for Fjallraven gear......you sold me on this stuff before you even made this video. I got to looking at them and realized how well made they are. And not gonna lie i was jealous of the granite shirt....definitely getting my own, it looks awesome and now that i know the shoulders are made of G1000, totally getting one.
awesome video, I'm a firm believer buy it once buy it for life.
you have no idea how many videos I had to look at to find one that told me what kind of pants you were wearing. Thanks, definitely got a new subscriber with me awesome videos

Fjällräven is good stuff! Have several products from them including three pairs Vidda pro, but Keb feels like a good pair of hiking pants with good ventilation. They are expensive but good ;) Good video Joe!
Love my Vidda Pros, selling me on the Kebs lol. Also have a Kebs jacket, very cool for trekking with same vent designs on the sides which also give access to inside midlayer pockets. It is military quality in lightweight format and innovative design. With the Greenland Wax you wash the garment in hot water to remove the wax and heat to melt it in if I remember right.
Thanks joe got my vida pro pants today!
Good stuff.
Awesome video brother
I love Fjallraven...
Good stuff bro
Fjällraven is a top brand, I use their products for many years and Im 100% satisfied! Prices seem expensive but in reality they are cheap for the quality you get cause they are an investment for long years! I sometimes buy cheaper brands but it always turns out to be a mistake! Fjällraven is unbeatable!
nice gear forsure. i was checking out their winter coats earlier this year.
I was torn between Keb and Vidda pro. might have to get both lol. thanks for the vid
Just to clarify. The "ä" letter is pronounced like the English word "BAD" but with a silent B and D. The R is usually a rolling R. Joe Robinet is indeed pronouncing it wrong. When he pronounce it that way, "Fallraven", a Swede would think of a raven that falls. Fjäll = A flat mountain area with almost no trees, mostly bushes and stuff like that.. Räven = fox. Fjällräven correctly translated into English would be "The Alpine Fox". Just look at their logotype and you will see it's a fox.. :)
I have had my kebs over a year now, probably worn them 100 times, including in some of the videos on this channel. They are expensive but if I lost mine tomorrow I would order a new pair in a second. They are honestly my favorite pants I have ever owned, would wear them to a wedding if the wife let me....they are black....
Nice review

thank you for this video haha last week i buyed my first faljraven g1000 pants. Now i know why all bushcrafter sworn by them instead off army clothes. the strenght is better and it protects you better from the ellements of nature.
Four years late to this video - my first pair of fjall raven vidda pro arrive this Friday. So pumped.
You seem to be a nice guy, Joe. I like watching your stuff. I completely agree with you regarding the benefits of Fjällräven products. G1000 is a hell of a fabric. I tend not to use Greenland wax and keep my pants more ventilative instead. When the weather becomes more severe I combine my Fjäll gear with bomb proof superlight Arcteryx outer shell clothing. This is my bad weather protection system of choice.
Joe, I picked up a pair of Keb trousers based on your recommendation. These things are awesome. Great for cool weather so far, (Wisconsin) but excited to try them out this spring!

I find army surplus trousers are great alternative if you're not willing to spend as much. I got a pair for £25 (probably about $32.50 US). They're a lot heavier, but probably just as durable. Just student a thing I guess :D
Looking good bro
A lot of people don't like the price, but honestly i'm not very wealthy by any means but I personally own 2 Fjallraven sweaters, 2 pairs of pants, and 2 different style winter hats.. It's definitely worth every penny of it, also going to last a long time I plan on handing my wool sweaters down to my kids..
i have been watching your videos for quite some time on xbox360 comments are impossible on there, scout is awesome! keep up the good videos and the good work!!!
Seems so excited
Have the Vida Pro pants and they will last the rest of my lifetime. Damn the price. I had looked at that wool shirt/jacket and if it's as thick as you say, I'm gonna pull the trigger. Their size conversion charts are spot on. Thanks for the review!
ITS A LIFETIME INV- Lol! Lucky for me there's a fjall raven store here in Vancouver
I like that your trying to build your channel. Getting the attention of big time sponsors is key. Keep up the camping vids in the meantime
I have a pair of fjellreven(Norwegian spelling) Greenland jeans that I use fall/winter/spring. They are way too hot for summer.. The G-1000 HD fabric is solid and can take a beating. And if I know the weather is staying dry/cold, I choose them over my bergans budor 3ply dermizax Shell pants. Simply for the fact that they transport moisture better. And they don't puncture as soon as they see a dry norway spruce, or a spark from a fire.. I used them an evening in January, -18celcius, just with a devold expedition 400g/m2 thermal layer. Moderate activity, mostly sitting by the fire drinking coffee, wasent a problem. Look at the names fjellreven gives their different models, it says a lot about its intended use:) Looks like many of the dedicated winter pants don't use the stretch fabric. G-1000 and G-1000HD are used throughout. Fjellreven states that the g1000 fabric is almost windproof. I can't make it through the different seasons with only one pair of pants, simply because the weather changes to much. The last month it has changed from -23celcius early January, to +6c and rain the last few days. I had -1c-, rain and cold wind early july 1000meter above sea level. Not the right place to be with a cotton outer layer for 6hours. Better if with a shell containing body heat. The rest of the 112mile hike/9days, was great compared to that day. Unfortunately the shorts stayed in the backpack for most of the days.

Great video, I have a fjellreven shop right next to my apartment :) I live in Norway.
Great stuff, really like the venting. I have the Barents Pro trousers, Greenland jeans, Kiruna Trousers and Woodsman jacket. They are such high quality and built like a brick I will be able to be buried in them. Some things are worth the investment if they last like this gear.
Great video as are all your videos. Id have to say im a Fjallraven fan boy as well, love their gear and their clothing. It looks great is highly functional and though. Just an all around great brand despite the price, but you get what you pay for.
That is a lot of money for a pair of pants. But the quality looks outstanding, and should last a long time. Joe I think your channel is great and your vids. are fun to watch. P.S. Thanks for turning me onto Doug outside, he's has some great content also. Have a good day.
Beautiful dog that

Dude! I'm a new subscriber and I am so happy I discovered your channel. I've spent so many hours watching your vids the last couple of weeks. I'm from Norway and Fjällräven is a scandinavian company (swedish, I believe), and they have been huge in scandinavian countries for decades. I remember back in the eighties when I was a kid, just about EVERY kid in school had a Fjallraven backpack. It was pretty much THE school-rucksack. If you didn't have one, you were not cool. haha.. I've noticed you've been wearing Fjallraven-stuff in your vids, and it brought me back to those days. :) If you switch out the A's with E's you'll pronounce it more correctly, like "Fjellreven". Thanks again for the vids! You've really inspired me to get my lazy ass out and explore this beautiful wilderness we have here in Norway. Keep'em coming, I'll be watching..

Hi Joe, by the looks of it fjallraven makes some quality clothing and gear. I personally do not have any, reason being the pricyness. I use another brand for pants which you should look into, much better pricing and great quality as well. They also have a much larger selection of materials and uses. Brand is Kuhl. Check it out!

Joes legit. Just because im not into something doesnt mean other cant be. A lot of people are the same way for Hammock Gear Quilts or Warbonnet Hammocks. When you really dig a beand or company you want to keep a) helping the out and 2) you feel youre getting good value for what you get. Hes not wrong for liking them and im not wrong for being indifferent.

+Datsyzerberg totally agree been holding of buying these pants for a couple of years now just bcoz i haven't found a way to justify the cost logically. Don't get me wrong Fjallraven is great gear but still overpriced. A store openned up recently in Montreal 50$ for a tuque ?? Visited a store in Germany and the pricing was the same. So in the end if you can afford them great for you. Maybe i will still end up buying a pair but hey a lot of good options out there cheaper.

+chart pat I agree with you on some parts, $50 is a lot for a toque no matter the brand or make. I would argue that a $20 toque is pretty close in materials and funtion to the $50 one. However I would also argue that for $225 in these pants you are getting a lot more (function and durability) than $80 ones. Some of the stuff is worth the money, some is not.
@chartpat4631
8 жыл бұрын
+Mike Morton Hey Mike, the question really is what is the number you are putting on the durability and functions you are getting, 130$, 75$ ? If in your head paying 130$ dollars more to get those is justified by all means go for it ! I am not judging people or Joe for that matter on the fact that they want to shell out this money for something they consider a good buy in there calculation. I could argue that yes those 80$ pants i have used on 100 if not 1000 of hike still look brand new and i can convert them into bermuda for the summer and G1000 or not they still are doing what i bought them for, they dry a lot faster, if they rip no big deal buy another pair and so on but that is not the point. Like someone else said people are not wrong for buying these and i am not wrong for not wanting to based on my calculation. I could be having the same exact discussion the other way around my outer shell and down jacket are Arcteryx, these 2 items come up to almost 800$ are the advantage i am getting from those itemsworth it to me ? Absolutly. Some one else could say the opposite and he wouldn't be wrong if to him these advantages are not worth that money. There is no right or wrong in this.
been looking at some triple aught design clothing which is more military but also good for outdoors. they are also expensive but definitely worth it. I'll take a look at there website sounds good
What a handsome fellow..... I hope he lives a long and adventurous life. :-D
Pockets on the legs on the Keb are ideal for folded maps when hiking.
Fjällräven is very popular over here (Denmark, Scandinavia). NOT cheap, but really great gear.
Fun and informative video. Thank you! If I "weigh" 5'10" 😉 and I'm 155lbs. What size waist would you recommend? I like my stuff fitted more than most.
Thought the hole on the shirt pocket was for the headphones jackplug to connect your phone that what I use it for got three shirts couple of pairs of trousers five different jackets summer fall and winter once you start buying fjallraven gear it's hard to stop and the do hunting clothing as well the ecoshell stuff is great top quality
If you all thought that they are expensive in North America...they are even more expensive here in Seden...and we're talking about a Swedish company... :-o Even so, love their clothes and have a ton of them! But there are several other swedish brands worth checking out: Haglöfs and Lundhags...
those pants are dope

Envy on the wool shirt... Tried the XXL yesterday and sleeves are a bit too short... Damn! Looks awesome!
Gosh, this video just made me fall in love with fjallraven even more. Their products are spectacular, and I'm still saving up for a pair of pants. Soon, i'll have enough to afford a pair. My question is, how is their customer service? I honestly do not hear much about them in America. Not as much as other common brands like osprey at least :)
I like the Vidda Pros simply for the axe/saw pocket. I can't find them anywhere. At least not in my size/color...Usually rock UA or 5.11 pants in the woods but they are not fire retardant whatsoever. Good info Joe thanks brah.
You sold me on the granit shirt & keb trousers, do you find the trousers water resistant on the G1000 without the Greenland wax?
LOL hes so excited he probably felt like Ragnar Lodbrok wearing those pants.
Nice video! Fjällräven is Swedish and translated it would be like "The mountain fox". Just for info :) Keep up the great work. I love this channel!
I love my fjall raven gear although it’s not very giving to plus sized guys like me I have the keb jacket 2XL and it’s tight. I wear 2XL normally and 2xL fits pretty well so big bummer on that but the pants are amazing I agree it is worth every penny it’s not water proof but it does repel a lot of water so it makes a great shell and when you wax them it makes it more wind and water resistant which is awesome if you wear a great poncho like one from wilderness innovation pssl you’re good to go in any situation
Very clear and detailed presentation Joe. I just heard about the Fjallraven clothing yesterday. I am trying to figure out if I want the Anorak N0. 8 or the Smock No. 1. Do you have either of these two jackets? Thanks for all the great vids you produce. ZK
