This issue has been bugging the shit out of me forever and I've wasted countless hours trying to figure out the root of the problem. This five minute video just solved the mystery for me. I don't know why I never thought to try that... Thank you!

Awesome tip man, my son's bike has just started to do exactly this yesterday and we are heading to state titles in a couple weeks so this will be my job this afternoon. Much appreciated as it had me buggered what it could be causing the issue as the bike has been running faultlessly until last night.

Thanks for this!! I had to take my chainring off completely and look at it from a side angle. A bunch of little bends needed to be adjusted and everything is sooooooo much better now! Appreciate it!

So pull any two. Find the tight spot. Keep it there. Squeeze it. Tighten two. Than put in other two and star pattern?

Great video... I've just got a 2020 GT speed series por. its my first race bmx.. How tight should your chain be on a race bike? its been set real tight compared to other bmx bikes I've had... thanks

I prefer my chain to be fairly tight but not so tight that the cranks can't rotate freely. You should be able to spin your cranks backwards freely and they should be able to spin a few revolutions--see if yours can do that, in not, loosen it a little. Most bmx chains have a tight spot. Try adjusting your chain using the tight spot as your reference point.

I have a 2018 Pro Performer. My three piece is off kilter, and I've been having problems with uneven chain tension for about a year now. Although I tried the pinch method, I'm still having the same issue. Regardless of what it ran me, I'm just about at the point of wrecking the entire bike because that creeking noise is getting on my nerves.

A few key things: make sure your chain tension is really close to dailed in before attempting this trick. Also, make sure all your parts are straight and true- especially your chainring.

Any ideas for fixing this issue with a direct mount chainring?

A chainring directly mounted to the spindle (like Profile Racing makes) would be the best way to solve this problem. That's what I use on my personal bike.

Doesn't leave a chance for me. I recently fix sprocket on my niece's BMX thinking it might be the problem because of age. Then this same problem arise after I installed the new one. It would be harder for me to to this because I have a One Piece crank which only have a single nut that hold the chain ring in place. Still looking for answer. Thank You for this video this will help me a lot.

Because of its age? Bent crank, Bent sprocket, Bent freewheel/cassette, get a new chain. All possible reasons why the bike is experiencing this problem.

It's difficult to say without looking at it. However, it might be your chain tensioner slipping out of place (that has happened to me) or possibly your wheel bearings starting to go bad- that can force your nut to loosen and your chain to move. Good luck

Then you would need to get your chain tension just where you want it, then tighten that one bolt last.

Just tried this on my girlfriends race bike. I just had new DXR cranks, tangent chainring , profile elite hubs , chain , freewheel & wheels put on it. Chain was tight in one spot & popping every now & then while riding & driving me crazy. Did exactly what you did on this video & it’s at perfect tension & much smoother now. Thanks!!

@@jackowens2764 if you have just one hole in the center (you have a sprocket), loosen the bolt that attaches to the right side crank arm and follow the same steps as in the video. (find the tight spot and squeeze the chain until the chain tension feels more even, then retighten the bolt)
