I was so happy to win this little thing on Sendico and had been really looking forward to doing this repair. Now that I have my studio set up I finally got round to it! I hope you enjoy!

I would watch HOURS of these restoration videos with just the acoustic guitar as background ambience. That was absolutely sublime. You’re on to something there.

I believe screen burns are caused my UV lights from the sun over curing the glue so much to the point where it starts to crack

maybe, but in this case,,due to the mintness of the gameboy, i would say it wouldn't have been in too much sunlight. But who knows, maybe a little sunlight could cause screen burns.

@@nivioof I’ve never had polarizer burn on anything except my ipod video. That was in the sun more frequently than everything else.
Absolutely loved the addition of you playing guitar on this one Elliot! And yes, I absolutely love the chill voice overs that you've been doing recently. Great restoration!
Omg that backlight IS wicked cool. I was thinking to myself, "It's just a backlight... Sure, it's the first of it's kind on a Nintendo Handheld but... Meh..." but lo and behold it's a different beast entirely. It looked so cool when you turned out the lights. XD
I have always enjoyed your videos, regardless of format. These recent "chill voice-over" ones have been some if my favorite videos the last few weeks. There's a kind of calm joyfullness to them which I quite enjoy. Keep doing what you love doing, in whatever form that takes. 👍
Congrats on that win Elliot! Especially improving it to its former glory and then some!
I love how you can tell how much you love this hobby. Also, loved the guitar playing
I've always wanted a Gameboy Light. I don't remember how I found out they existed back in the day (a game magazine? Some ancient website? Who knows.), But boy, did I want one.
I was just watching one of your old videos wondering, when will Elliot upload a new vid....and here we go!!!! Thanks for the amazing content and for fueling my Gameboy addiction
It looks great! Nice guitar playing! 11:35 its like a really dim glow in the dark watch.
I like this channel cuz it’s like antiques roadshow but for gameboys
The editing on this was awesome Elliot! And such a sick game boy :) great video
Because of your videos I pulled my childhood GBA out to see what state it was in. It's dirty, missing a battery cover, and I think the button membrane for the D-Pad is broken... But I've seen so many videos from you I feel fairly confident repairing those things. Maybe I'll even try installing an IPS screen. I'm excited to get it working really nicely again!
I had no idea you play guitar! It was great and super soothing! Also this gameboy is really cool I love the white ascents.
The way you caressed that gold light in the closing shot was nothing short of unsettling LOL :D
aw mate i'm so glad to hear the giveaway is still going! wondered what happened, it's such a beautiful lil gameboy
i like how your just having fun with editing your videos. i love how you go. “i’ll stop talking now, and play a quick song on guitar😂
it's the little jokes like the twiddle and nans toothrush that make me laugh way too hard.
Loved the relaxing video. Be great to see some top ten lists from you, fave gameboy games etc.

I would be fine just hearing the guitar playing, it was kinda soothing tbh. Though learning how to fix and repair gameboys is also a nice skill to learn. Will need it when I eventually reshell my childhood ags101.
i still have the light that u helped me find on ebay ages ago i still love the blue light it gives off its so e what magical to see it in person
Always appreciate your content thanks a bunch🎉
Super chill watch, loved it
Gosh I love the Gameboy light. So glad to see one getting restored.
just ordered an ips for my GBA, cant wait to see what you do
that is the finest gameboy pocket ever, great job dude!
Watched this while eating lunch, very relaxing :). That GB looks amazing
That was some awesome guitar! Don't think any less than awesome of yourself!
I loved the guitar music! Please add more to future videos!
Genuinely, when I clicked on this video, I thought it was going to be the power indicator light. Absolutely not disappointed, though. Great vid!
Wooooow so beautiful! Thank you for sharing ❤ You are my comfort youtube channel
Hey Elliot , the screen light color reminds me of those old Ericsson t28 t29 mobile phones. They used to light up in the same irridescent kind of magical color . Great work and keep up the good job !
thanks for the musical interlude
I love that I cant tell if you are being a smartass or not lol love the video
There's so many kinds of Game Boy pockets and I love it
love these kinds of videos, keep it up!
They finally have a gray polarizing film for gameboy screens? Awesome!
Love the guitar part!
Oh my, i was suprised when i heard of toyota game boy but now i lost words. Good job Elliot!
Where do you buy your protective boxes? The clear ones for display. I've got a bunch of items on the way and need some protection!
Great video and cool sponsor I had not heard of. Just signed up for a year of their service with your code 😊

Awesome! Thank you!
I've been following over a year at least because I really enjoy your content but I have also been hoping that entire time that you might eventually lead me to the correct polarizer for my GBP. I can't find one that isn't green to save my life and would LOVE to save my childhood GNP from the shelf.
Okay.. You got me with the button tasting lmao
This Game Boy is just beautiful.
Good idea 💡 fixing the screen.
The previous videos I've seen from you has been those fake restoration videos... Alittle bit of me wanted to post "This fake" for lolz XD I'm sorry. Great video and awesome gameboy light!
here doing my part for ECs place on the algorithm ✌️
gave you a thumbs up for the unneccesary twiddle
That Gameboy looks fantastic!
Awesome Video Elliot Coll
Hi Elliot You can use wonderswan polizered film to repair the poor screen, it's sad to see it not repaired. I have did repaired my gameboy light and it is perfect now as new.
Looking forward to seeing you repair that melted screen. It looks particularly bad.
Having gameboy light fixed is just POG
Donde puedo conseguir ese repuesto de iluminación azul que le cambias, amigo..?? Gracias.
Funny thing about the Gameboy Color, I knew I was getting one for my birthday when it released. But at the time I was convinced that because it's a color screen that it would also be backlit lol. So when I turned it on for my birthday, younger me was like "What the heck? I've been scammed!" Then I proceeded to plug in one of my gameboy accessory lights and still enjoyed the heck out of it :)
Would like to take this moment to say .... Elliot you are a fantastic charming young man that makes videos about retro gaming very intresting and does not come across big headed like some do on here and always stays level headed witch is nice to see . I think you deserve a lot subscribers and a lot respect for keepings things real and staying yourself . I truely beleive the time you met mr beast you were the bigger star in that video as you showed him much more respect than he did you and kind off pissed me off to see that he kind off thought he was the better person in that room but he was far wrong ... The videos you do a good that you dont cut to much out even if you are looking for tools while still recording that gives it a real feeling of true life in action .. Anyway elliot keep up the amazing work and i think if people are not subscribed now do so and lets elevate elliot way past mr beasts subscribers because he truely deserves ... Thanks for your videos and help and may future be what you want and desire ... Randy o rossiter
Elliot, you are the Game Boy god! brilliant. 🤟 keep up the great work 👍
Hey Elliot, you can just carefully remove the polarizing film from the surface of the LCD. It's UV damage of the adhesive, so you can buy adhesive backed polarizing film, and do what you do for a backlight pocket mod, but instead of remove the film from the back, you're removing the film from the front. Super easy, I'd actually like to see a video where you fix that screen and place it back in the gold pocket light. Great video!

He's actually done this before, I am guessing he wanted to keep this one stock.
You're a pretty decent guitarist. I liked that tune, whatever it was.
Done violated the gold gameboy at the end damn
Why i feel something tingling on my hair looking at the screen of that Gameboy
What a beautiful video
I enjoy your videos no matter what voice you use. They are...almost personal like.
Yes a link to the correct Polarizer would be awesome.
Ever thought about doing the giveaways via Twitter instead of just Instagram? Loving the videos as always!
Would love to see the burnt screen being repaired!
Would to watch you fix that screen with the correct polarizer!
Nice work 👍
Asmr restoration video but metal randomly starts playing at 200% volume
I'd love to see this screen repaired with the right polariser
Finding the right polarizer for a Pocket/Light (and others) would be like finding the holy grail.
Hey Elliot. I'm looking for the right polarizer. Got any advice?
Such a good video
Yes please on the polarizer!
Hi Elliott, how does screen burn occur could you cover this in a video?
Was that “bye” ….. for the gold gameboy light? It felt too personal 😂
Gives me Gameboy HORROR vibes
I have to admit my two favourite gameboys are the famitsu Gameboy light and the tezuka osamu Gameboy light
In your experience, did the screen gasket (adhesive ring) remain useable or was it too dried to actually adhere to the replacement screen? I think I've managed to source some screen gaskets from china, but man are screen gaskets the hardest thing to try and find for the GBL. Also thanks to your influence I now have every version of the GBL, the Osamu Tezuka shop versions are absolutely stunning.
Damn that little spin was pro!
The guitar playing was a treat
Elliot I think instead of re-launching the giveaway you should go with the comments that are on it as is and do they give away based on what was already there
I really like hearing your music, do you have anything up online?
That's not better...dats butta baby!
How many tri-swing screws are there on the back of the Game Boy?
I'm still sad we never got the gameboy light... had too use all those lame attachments till the SP
Hey, I have an old Gameboy Color, would you beinterested in Turning it into a Gameboy Color Light for your next video? It also needs some fixing as after my Dad playedwith it for years, the buttons kinds became wobblly
where do u buy these rare gameboys?
For the guessing of how many gameboy Eliot has, I would guess currently at least 100 under the brand of gameboy so DMG, Light, Pocket, Color, Advance, Micro and SP.
Let’s Go!!!
Once you know the polarizer, I’ll finally be able to find an affordable GB Light.
Are the game boy lights region locked? Like can you only play Japanese games on them or can you play US or European games on them as well?
the guitar, what a legend
How about a so in Gameboy colour custom shell
I could literally watch hours of game boy restoration and repair if it had more original guitar backing
Ahhh. Well now that I've seen this, I'm totally going to buy one of these knock off cases to replace my awful gold one with missing paint. Then mine will look like yours! :)
Love these videos as always, Elliot. Don't worry about silly comments like "you're greedy" that's just ridiculous, collecting has always been an acceptable hobby. Question! Why not repair the actual screen polarizer instead of just swapping out the screen? I know it's an annoying process but I don't think it's a video you've done before, it could be fun for us viewers.
Love it when you laugh at your own jokes lol
Please make a video with the new polarizer
