Aluminum diamond plate makes a nice reinforcement on the interior of the mirror mounts :)

The guy who does bodywork at my job's shop gave me a piece of 1/8" aluminum about 1' x 4' to use for that but I decided to just go with the thicker fiberglass, I offered to return the sheet but he said to keep it, I could use it for something later.

Boy that didn't seem to have a long open time Expanding the back reinforcement ought to help.

The mirrors are very solid now. No, you don't have much time to work this stuff when it's hot outside and you can't use less hardener to slow it down or it won't harden enough and will remain tacky and will have to be ground off and done again.

That hood is nasty. How's your rebuild been holding up? Using any oil? Leaks?

The hood is good now. The rebuild runs fine, yes it does use a bit of oil, after replacing the rear main seal a couple months ago it still uses some oil but no sign of leak that would account for the gallon or so a month, only a couple of slight areas of seepage leaving small oil stains on the motor but not enough to drip.
