Fixing The 1984 ATC! | Alexis Rides Big Red Through A Creek

Ойын-сауық

Clifford The Big Red ATC is having some issues again, but instead of taking him to the vet we were able to bring him back to full health in the shop using some basic principles of how an engine is supposed to function.
First we checked to see if we had spark, we did but as you can see in the video it was not firing correctly and causing detonation. So instead of buying another plug we wasted time adjusting the valves, cam chain tension, and making sure our timing was set correctly.
Thankfully all of those things needed to be done anyway and after throwing in a fresh spark plug she ran like new again! Afterwards we hit the fields for some farm fun on this old 1984 death machine. My girlfriend Alexis even hops on and has some fun riding through a creek and attempting some wheelies.

The more I look at your rear tires, the more I think they could be the last of the Big Reds 86' tires.. My Father owned that model and the main difference was the grey colored dash where the neutral and reverse lights are and those rear tires. They were bad for pulling you off the trails in winter. As soon as the tire would hook up once they caught the softer snow off the packed trails..

If you only had the ‘85-‘86 Big Red 250... Super low 1st gear, lean back, nail it, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, all day wheelies across the fields! Balance the pressure in the rear tires and you could wheelie to your heart’s content! Two up, up a hill, even better!

They were 30 years ahead of their time easily if not more!!! The cheap Chinese crap that is being produced doesn't last more than 2-3 years if you are lucky! You can take an original big red that has been sitting for 20 years and get it to run easily with a carb clean and tank flush and new fuel lines.
