Very good renovation. I also have a lot of buzz on shortwave in the Sony ICF-SW30 receiver.

I got lucky and bought one brand new in the box (SW-1S) with the Sony Case antenna and a 3V power supply...... The radio was packed in plastic with a silicone bag for moisture and even the headphones where new in the box ....found it in a Hobby Lobby in Phoenix AZ ...... he told me you know these, make me an offer it has been on that sale shelf for over 10 years .....I said $150.00 ..... and he was okay let's pack her up......

I've replaced all 6 capacitors with Panasonic caps but now the FM reception is poor. I'm thinking that due to maybe placing too much solder on one of the caps there might be a short circuit? Does anyone happen to know whether any of the 6 caps are responsible for the FM reception? Or do you think it might be something else? Antenna improves reception when I pull it out so it's not the antenna.

I'm currently not able to see the schematic, but try to resoldering the caps again, check for short cicuit. do the caps leaked? if so, maybe you should clean any leakages from the caps, leakages can be under other components around the caps

​@@felangga I did do a clean all around yesterday but no success. don't worry. I'll just keep it as it is. Maybe I'll find someone to have a look at it.

​@@felangga So today I just happen to flip the radio to one side to notice that there is a Local / DX switch to the side. Now I get full signal and good quality sound out of this little thing. This is beyond ridiculous. I was about to sell the radio as spares on eBay. Thank God I've noticed it in time :)) So stupid lol

@@florinmoldovanu ohh yes there's a sensitivity switch on the left side. But I think it's only for AM, I don't know it's working for FM too 😂 I'm glad your radio is working normally again

@@felangga it's working on FM too. Probably works on all bands. Probably it drains more battery as it increases its ability to capture signal just like a mobile phone works when the signal is too low. The difference is night and day really. Getting good signal on some stations even without the antenna pulled out.

too bad it don't cover the air traffic or goes up to 200MHz. that would be a fun toy.

@@iamaja5389 220uF/4v (x2) 47uF/4v (x2) 100uF/4v (x1) 33uF/4v (x1). Gak apa2 mas santai saja :)
