That bike "trashed" is brand new compared to most that come by the bike shop I work at.

@@nathancurry2246 Ya there's always going to be some hot garbage going through the shop, just part of it. But it is satisfying when you get a trash bike and make it nice again. And the minions probably would've worked, but I personally prefer the continental lineup for the price to performance.

Love how you always put money back into the channel! Love your vids!!
Awesome work once again! Just a tip, when you are waxing chains you should put them in ice cold water after having the chain in the molten wax, the ice water makes the wax dry inside the links faster and the wax doesn't have time to melt and come out from inbetween the links, lubing the chain better.

Hi, but won’t that put moisture in the chain again?

Very well thought out upgrades. This will give the bike a long life, and gives it a modern update. I don't think I would change anything about how you did this. Love this series!
I used to have a Giant Talon 1 from around this era and genuinely enjoyed it a ton. Even upgraded the XT derailleur to a newer XT with a clutch before I just got a new bike. Seriously glad to see this 3 getting a new lease on life!

I’ve still got a 2, same color scheme but large frame with 29s. This definitely gives me a few specific ideas to trick it out a little, since the determination of what will fit which bike is over my head
wow the bike got sweet parts! You could really keep it on a budget with the Microshift Advent X group and a cheaper dropper, I think you could get the whole thing really upgraded with fresh grips and pedals for under 400.
This has slowly become one of my favorite MTB channels on KZread. Good stuff Evan 🤟😎👍
It’s awesome to have witnessed your channel grow so much! Myself and all the other commenters appreciation your engagement with the fans of the channel. I hope the future brings your channel even more success!
This series is pretty cool. Helping your local mtbikers improve their rides. You get content to record & basically they get a brand new bike in return. 👍
Awesome work, so cool you hooked a subscriber up. I have personally helped at least 5 people this year get bikes. I love getting old gems and making them new again.
Dude this is so rad! Such great upgrades its basically a new bike!
Thanks for the video. Loved it! You are very knowledgeable on upgrading bikes on a budget!

Yeah from the video you can tell the bike is much better but as 800 usd was the budget a new bike would've suited him much more. the dropper is not his height neither the frame which looks to be a size down so in my view he only made it worse by upgrading instead of going out and buying him a new bike.

Awsome work once again, I really love the effort you but in this serie
Great video I wish I had someone like you to help me with my old bike but love how you changed his bike👍
Great video! I love when you help out people
Love this series whenever Evan upload’s its an auto click for me!! Keep up the great content!!
Always excited for a new video! Love the content! Keep up the great videos !
Great video, awesome that you support subscribers!!
Always a good day when Evan posts another satisfying bike upgrade video
Happy 50k subs! You did it in less than a year congrats
You become a very good bike mechanic, this video was excellent. I need more content
I love this series. keep it up Evan
I basically did the same. I bought a Trek 4300 back in july of 2007 and slowly changed all the parts and components; only part left from purchase is the headset spacer. I was told by the owner of the store were I bought the bike from that I could of bought a better bike for less than I spent on upgrading this one. I ended up putting XT components, Thomson Elite bar and stem, and a Chris King headset. Oh well, it's how I wanted my bike to look. Hopefully your buddy enjoys his bike upgrades🤘🤘
love these sad to rad vids!
A+++ Great vid as always. I was looking forward to it after seeing it on Strava. Keep up the awesome work.
Good episode. I like the lower cost parts, and I like the cross king tires!
So cool you could fix his bike up like that! Can’t wait for it to cool off some so I can get back out on the trails around South Mountain.
Great video! Also enjoy following your Strava!
Looks great, We gotta spread these videos more so the budget is big enough you will be able to get the fork next time
Awesome video! I just came upon your channel and I love it.
I wish evan could fix up my budget bike, i have a vitus nucleus vr 27.5, fork is total trash. Like evan said. This bike is under forked! Never had any issues with the drive train though. I really admire the time he puts into his builds!!! Keep up the great work evan!!!😊
Amazing bike upgrade. Love it!
So Nice! Did similar upgrades to my 2017 giant full-e
Nice one - I thought perhaps you were going to replace those brakes too, but hey, they'll do. Thanks for the tip about that crankset, btw.
Always a good day when Evan uploads
The guy saying he’s 2017 bike was old made me laugh. I live in South America if you only see what we ride down here would give you rich guys a heart attack LOL
Thanks for the vids, greetings from Colombia.
Awesome video! I run the same Deore cassette on my bike and it's great
Solid video.. I upgraded my budget talon 2 with about the same investment as this. Sometimes it's the journey upgrading that some find enjoyment along with riding. Each new part I put on was like riding a new bike. Lol.. keep up the great work. New subscriber ✌🏻
amazing work man, you definitely did him a huge favor with the 1x drive train lol
USA Cycling can kick rocks, but still a fan!
Really cool! I build my 2015 talon 3 with nx transmission guide r brakes and arc rims, the only thing I didnt upgrade was the fork, but now i have a 2017 bronson carbon frame that I’m building and taking some of the parts from the giant to the bronson
Cant waste for the next sad to rad video the are so entertaining

Evan, no kidding, your videos are the ones I look forward to the most from all my subscribed channels! Any chance you’d do a review on the chain waxing experience? I thought about it a while back when I upgraded my drive train but decided not to.
Very cool upgrades!
That was really cool, showing us what changes would make the most difference. I totally get the feeling Jeremy had for the bike before the updates - just old and clunky and too heavy. It feels like the bike pulls you down and you have to put more effort in to it to get it to keep going. No fun at all.
great work bike look soo much more better now
Man, that’s one sweet ride!
Subscribed!!!! The mere thought of going back to a front derailleur is horrifying 😱
It cool to see the Talon, first one I upgraded was a 2017 talon 2!
Dude I snagged an eBay dropper for 30. It was a new takeoff from one of those rental citibike things. Weighs like 3 pounds. Manual drop lever with no remote option, not adjustable for saddle angle, only 100mm of travel. Basically the worst dropper imaginable. It’s still a million times better than not having a dropper. Also, I love continental tires. They’re cheap and ride super well. Super happy with them.
Pretty rad! Good choice of upgrades for the money. Me and my Nishiiki 29er are jealous! lol
1:07 so nice man. I wish we had that here man.
is always a great day when you post a new video Evan
The 11s deore is honestly sick. Way cheaper and barely noticable between it and 12s if you use a 30t front ring. We run it on one of our demo/ rentals and it's been flawless even with non mtbers shifting it all season

Cool video. I wish I at least had all the tools to do all the jobs. Like bottom bracket and crank tools. Saves a lot of money if you can work on your bike yourself.
I love the insurance in Germany, it solves the injury - problem and helps a lot with crashes.
awesome content man! thanks for the info about USA cycling. I used your code and signed up. I had a bad MTB injury a little over a year ago and that Spot insurance would have really came in handy.

Great build, this bike is in desperate need of wider handle bars though
Amesome build ! Wish I was your friend lol. Awesome sponsorship, looks like a great investment !
This is awesome! I have a Trek Marlin 6 that needs help and I’m local to Queen Creek. Keep up the great content
That’s what I’m talking about! Great job!
Bro, i had the same bike put exactly the same parts on it, + bigger disc but the stole the bike before i could take it out on the trail for the first time, today i gonna buy me new one. Excited!
I currently ride a 2016 giant talon 2 and it’s an amazing bike once you’ve upgraded selected items such as the brakes and cockpit
Evan like always great videos keep up the good work
I lost it when you said you were a nurse since Yetis are known to be “doctor bikes” 😂
I think this is a winning idea my dude, solid content :)
Me and my friend ride our big 5/ Walmart hardtails down black diamonds. It’s cool to see this kind of stuff on KZread
I really want my bike to be upgraded , but then i remember Albania is on the other side of the world , and the best way to complete my dreams is to buy another bike ... love your Videos , and all your videos are great built, nice job dude 🤌
Great update for the bike
amazing content as usual!
I like the grips but, there are same giant grips you took off, just lock-on. I have them and they are very good and have plenty of grip, soft enough for cruising while being good for trails.

Ex Pat Brit in the Filippines I almost bought a Tallon, but the bike shop didn't have. So not willing to go home empty handed (100Km) bus ride for nothing i opted for a Fathom 29er. stock Ms. Deore. I recently upgraded to XT, Wow new bike in every respect! Like me your subscriber is a lucky guy.
I love the budget upgades because of the same reason of diminishing returns. I have a similar budget hardtail and most of the upgrades ( whenever I break an OEM part) are not from main stream brands. the only OEM part that has not been replaced is the 3x8 drivetrain.
This was great!
I'm impressed you found Continental MTB tires in stock. I can never find a full pair in stock, back to Maxxis it is.
This is awesome! I miss riding my bike, I had a specialized rockhopper comp. But due to covid my finances pilled up and I had to sell it I miss it💔.
This series is amazing love the work you do and you always go above and beyond for those people which is lovely i would love mine to be next but don’t live in America unfortunately but whoever is next i already know they are lucky
Ixf cranks are pretty strong been jumping about on mine for months still perfect 👌
Love the channel but can you make a E mountain bike high low series. Keep up the good work.
