rofl, talk about overkill. Andrew cracks me up: sees a couple of smallish potholes in his driveway (could've probably been filled by hand with a wheelbarrow, really), goes on to dump a shitload of stone on them. I mean, like 10 times more than necessary just for good measure. Didn't watch it through yet, but I bet he says something like "yeah, that should do it" or "that turned out pretty good" in the end ;-). Love your videos, man.

I like the fact that your posting more videos. Levi was just a young boy and the ford truck hadn't earned many bruises yet. I is in the best interest of a landscaper to have a very nice dive into the property and you show what you can do with what you have to work with. I forget why you said that a road compactor didn't work for you but it seems that they tend to pack in a driveway and not create the holes that comes with drives that don't have a smart owner who breaks his own trail in and out. We widened the roads we worked on the same way by driving further out till they become very passable. Pulling the ditch lines with a grader then when crowning it, work it out further till they became two lane roads. Most of our roads were not financed by the burrough so we all took turns in making roads better when we had the time and making the time to get the roads safe for winter traffic. Good video Andrew

I know when AC positioned his JD TLB for loading, after jumping it, from sitting a while, he shut it down for the benefit of the video to explain the task, against his better judgement to let it charge up, while he got the truck. He did say it had electrical problems, maybe would not have charged, but I say he did it for us viewers because that's how he rolls...THANKS AC!!

Andrew is using a technique called back-blading. You use the bottom of the bucket to level out the road. He is not using the front edge too much going forwards because it would push and pick up/out the larger shale pieces.

In southern Nevada in the 70's we "paved" a road about 6 miles long using sandstone/shale to our family campground in the mountains. I went in the Navy in 72 and I had never been back to the camp. In 2000 I went up there just to look around. There were about 20 other cabins and camps but the road was still intact. I talked to my cousin and he said he had graded it several times over the years for potholes but it was pretty much as we had laid it back then. Great material!

“Getting old is not for sissy’s!” 🤜🤛
Seeing and hearing that old 310C bought back a lot of memories as a kid.
I have to say you have carved out your own chunk of paradise, I'm sure it hasn't been easy but your hard work and determination never falters. Your definitely an inspiration to many. Keep on keep'n on my friend. 👍
You have made some nice improvements to the property, great video and drone footage

Great job on driveway Andrew Plenty of free shale in Catskills That's a big plus Thank u for the great videos
All this free material makes me jealous. I have the same battery back, won’t quite jump my tractor either.
Stellar drone work to finish it off! The music, throughout your videos, but especially the drone shots, as always, just fits.
It's nice to have your own quarry!

@SteveGeremia

Andrew is using a technique called back-blading. You use the bottom of the bucket to level out the road. He is not using the front edge too much going forwards because it would push and pick up/out the larger shale pieces.
Always good seeing the job foremen out checking the work.
You're spoiling us man... Great video!

Not bad , three days in a row ... it makes my day, thanks. While watching the outro I was thinking you have a knack of flying that drone and putting music behind. It is really really nice and always has a relaxing and soothing feel to it. Like the time you did 4 min of flying in "Setting a Granite Frog" that was great.
Three videos in 2 days??... ...That's a new record and we absolutely love it 😊 Keep up the good work!

Hey Andrew , love watching you work..And a third video in 3 days, just superb.
That's cool using the resources around you. Where I grew up it was coal cinders. Everybody heated with coal so all the streets and driveways were paved with post burn cinders. They started off large and broke to near powder also. Thanks for the videos.

Our track in high school was paved with coal cinders. Great to run on but when you fell and your bare knees hit it, it was brutal. Never turned to powder. After my time they replaced it with a rubberized membrane track. Nice.

Good Job Andrew, Levi again you amaze me. Levi's narration of the job is spot on and Levi's input really brings the video together.
You make everything you do look so darn easy when I know how difficult these things can be. Just love watching you at work.

This is the 3rd video of yours I have watched. Now, a subscriber. You go for it. No half stepping here. 1 man Army. Hard working guy. I enjoy your videos, reminding me of my younger years (70 now)! Hard work alone doesn't get you there, as Lee Iococca wrote in 1 of his books, determination, an unusual amount of determination will get you to being successful. I see that quality here. It worked for me. Outstanding.
"So that turned out pretty good." All your projects do and I love your efficiency at the controls of the machines.

Definitely a beautiful piece of property. Love how you have the ponds staged around the driveway. I do not know what aqua plants grow in your state. But you could add some to the permitter or build a marsh and it would filter your pond water. Aeration would also help. Could really make a nice place to relax and running water is always soothing for the mind. You have come along way on the property. Great job👍
Thanks for the vid and explaining fixing your drive and how the shale breaks down over the years!! You love Levi and he loves you!!! Keep the vids coming!!

Well done. And you're correct, a road should be driven on/over it's entire surface....helps prevent the 'creation of ruts'.

Kinda nice to have that rock material source at your disposal. In my rural neighborhood the dirt roads are pretty bad and the only onsite material is lava rock with some dirt but mostly larger rocky soil. Definitely don't want to dig with a hand shovel.
