I struggled with these for years, then something clicked and now I have them on lock. What clicked was this: think of it as a "way of bouncing" off one side of the ramp. Imagine that the back of the platform is lava or something, and you need to get away from it as soon as you can. You're heading towards it fast, but you have to stop yourself by putting all your weight on the coping and pushing off again in the other direction. That's what did it for me, and I was finally able to come straight back in with no readjustment.

Read this comment a few weeks back and your tip about "bouncing off" the coping has helped my back d's a tonne. It's like I "get" the trick now, whereas before they always felt and looked sloppy and I'd hesitate before coming in. Great advice man, thanks!

Nice. U have enuff momentum in your scoop that youre overrotating enuff that u could easily take it to front smith or 'sugar cane'. Whichever youd like to call it. My issue was never overrotating but instead l wouldnt rotate quit enuff & always just go to over wheelie & then into disaster. So itd be a back over wheelie to d. Which is a cool trick in its own aswell. Do u understand what lm sayin? Thx. Cool vid

Nice back D’S. I’ve been battling them for a few months but I’m losing my board after hitting the coping. Did you have this problem?

Thanks, man! I didn't have a lot of issues with my feet coming off the board, but my buddy Christian (who recently landed his first one) did. I think the two biggest things that helped him fix it was making sure to hand the toe of your back foot over the edge of the board. This gives you a place to curl your toes a little bit and sort of grab the tail for a little more control. When it finally clicked, he also made sure to keep his body leaned at the same angle of the transition. When the board was getting away from him, he was rotating too flat so the board had a much harder time getting over the coping. By changing the angle of his body, he had less weight on his back foot and it was easier to keep the board under him. Eventually, when I get them 100% how I want, I'm going to make an in-depth video on all the struggles I've had, but if you have any questions in the mean time, hit me up!
