No better feeling than reviving a classic console. Good work. My dude i am in a similar situation. I recapped and replaced both the video sram and the work sram. My issue is the work sram. I am getting a short when i connect the ground pin. But when i remove that leg from the trace the short is gone. The orientation is correct and i am guessing maybe the chip is defective.

Good job! Of the 2 Game Gears I've had I've managed to fix just the one so far (a VA1). The VA0 I have is being stubborn with fixed horizontal lines and doesn't seem to be reading game. I'm going to get it back on the bench tonight after work and see if I can fix either of those issues. I really want to put a new IPS cleanscreen in it (from RetroSix) but obviously want to make sure it will actually work before spending on it.

Thanks! I hope you get it up and running. I also have a modded GameGear with an IPS screen. Love this thing!
