Fixing a Dryer Squeak in under 18 minutes DIY From start to finish Appliance Repair for Whirlpool

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Our Whirpool Electric Dryer was squeaking really bad.
It's a Whirlpool Duet Steam Ecoboost. Model #wed94hexw0 but should work with many of the Duet Whirlpool dryers. We fix the bad squeak in under 18 minutes. That time includes disconnecting and reconnecting the dryer from the wall. We're not pro's so don't be too hard on us in the comment section. I'm just posting this video to show you that it's really not that hard. You take off the top and back and add grease and/or WD40 on the pulley roller wheels. DIY project on a major laundry appliance.

I love the real world "I gotta poop" from your kiddo while making the video. Really reflects everyday life while trying to fix stuff. Lol Thanks for the great laugh along with great info!

Dude you just saved me a fortune, found out my wife booked a scam artist of a company to repair our dryer, fixed it in about 10 minutes (didn't have to pull it out and didn't hit your snags...)

Great video. Thanks for the walkthrough. There’s also two more rollers at the back bottom and right (very easy to reach and miss).

Nice demo, but hate to tell you that's a short term temporay fix. 99% of the time, it is the tension/idler pully and a worn belt. You'll be doing this again, except next time you'll have to take off from the ftont and remove all the rollers and tensioner pully and replace with new belt. Add a little lithium grease to each roller shaft then reassemble. Contrary to most beliefs, the rollers *are NOT* ball bearings wheels. That _really took me by surprise_

Just to warn you: closed cabinets must not receive grease or lubricating oils. They can vaporize, creating a compressed chamber and a single spark from the on/off relay can cause an explosion. This is why the machine comes from the factory with all the pulleys and tensioner running dry. For the same reason, clothes soiled with oil cannot be taken to the dryer: the air produced is highly flammable and the drum can also explode.

Just wanted to share that after doing some research, I have found that it's not recommended to use oil or grease on these parts, and it may cause a fire hazard. You can find kits to replace the idler pulley, drum rollers, and drive belt for reasonable prices and still do the work yourself. Just replacing the idler pulley (the part you greased) ran around $7 and the entire replacement kit ran around $40 for my dryer. Thank you for doing the video. It was helpful to see it done and what it takes to get inside from the back.

Looks great. By chance did you happen to make a video when you replaced the pulleys & belts, or did you watch one that’s already online?
