What a great video! I was stuck as to why my mower blades were turning while the deck was disengaged. You gave me a starting point to go solve this issue. I'm expecting to solve the problem without having to spend a lot of money at a repair shop. PS I looked at buying a new tractor. Not only are they around 3000 dollars for the one that I would want ( CA prices are of course a lot higher than the rest of the country), but there was no post Covid 19 lock down inventory to buy one! Again thanks for posting the great video so that I have a good starting point. My LT 1000 Craftsman is a 2002 model with a 42 inch mower deck and a 21 HP Briggs and Stratton engine that I bought new at Sears nearly 20 years ago.

What you can’t see is the cable and spring that holds the pulley tight does not release as far as what I’m showing on camera. That’s why I moved it one last time so it would keep a little bit of tension on that spring when it’s actually all together

there are no more new craftsman mower’s,,, I have a nine-year-old Huskee 3800 and I was thinking about replacing it(not because it doesn’t work it still does very well I was just thinking about upgrading) all these new lawn tractors are made in the same factory pretty much the same way with a few slight variations and different name plates I don’t know if it’s MTD or exactly what but they all look very similar with the exception of a few,,,John Deere I believe is still made down south in their own factory,,, I also have an old craftsman the model number starts with 917 so I’m assuming it was made by American yard products??? Looks like a cube lotta people nicknamed it the cube,,, hydrostatic it had the Kohler command engine 15/2 horse and manual engagement,,, mechanical deck linkage deck engagement I’m having some trouble with it so I thought I’d just replace it with a brand new craftsman,,,man was I ever disappointed,,,since then I’ve been ordering parts for my old craftsmen and I’m thinking about trying to keep her around a little bit while longer,,,idk??? Once I get my deck working well I suppose the transmission will go out(hope not) I have to replace the drive belt soon also I believe. I’ve already had to replace the motor all I could find in my price range at the time the motor went out was an older Briggs & Stratton opposed twin I believe it’s about 15 hp I have to keep the hood off right now because of the exhaust and I welded some straight pipe for each side And put small mufflers on the end of them looks a little strange but sounds cool as he\\,,, dual exhaust,,,I’m going to do a little more welding on the exhaust pipes and make the hood will fit and have dual stacks coming out one on each side when I’m done sounds crazy but I really think it will work....
