That's correct! Sometimes, we fix broken items by replacing them! In this case there are ways to prevent it from flipping back down but it's easier and cheaper to replace it with an aftermarket replacement then disassembling it and attempting to repair it internally.

This one was a pry out with either a flat head or a pry tool, some have covers you have to slip off first and then there's 2 phillips head screws holding it up.

To be honest, it's unfortunately probably a poor quality aftermarket replacement. They don't last and aren't the same quality as the originals in most cases.

It is easy and better to purchase a new one, typically you can find replacements on eBay or Amazon for your vehicle

I hate to say it but sometimes going to the dealership is the only answer. The Amazon visors look good but the metal spring is super cheap and will fail
