That's very good advice, Eddie! I've always adjusted the clutch and brake levers (and the handlebar) on my bikes like that. Also , I'd advice everyone to adjust the (cable screw) on the clutch lever so the point where the clutch starts to grab matches your hand and glove. Do the same for your brake lever. But you need to do those adjustments when wearing gloves and take it for a ride to see where it feels right. Too far in and you have to close your hand too much. Too far out and it'll feel like you need to reach out too far. Depends on preference and the size of your hands.

Also, handlebars. If your bars aren't comfortable, you won't be relaxed when out for a putt. When I put 18 inch are hangers on my.......yeah, right. I just put a set of Pro-Taper 8880 Dirt Track bend on my KTM, a little taller, a little more sweep back than the stock Supermoto bars. But, a full 6 inches wider. I had to get longer brake lines made, re-routed the throttle cables and the switch wiring, and in the end, I cut 2 1/2 inches off each side (they're marked for cutting them), but I've got myself convinced they are more comfortable!

@@Culencio.Mierdandez I recommend parking lot or your yard. Not my legal suggestion, but an alternative is to simply not stop. That would work best if you have multi-lane town traffic, you can lane filter between all the cars parked at the lights without ever going fast (no need to endanger yourself or others). Additional options for duel sport there's no chance they would catch you if you throw in a couple curb turns and go through a tight alleyway or between some trees and lose them in the woods. Some people run pealable paint on their bikes, so once your away, you never had a blue bike... yours is clearly red and has always been red from the factory

I recently bought a new GSX-R750 and the levers were set straight ahead. My wrists were hurting and getting way tired while they were set that way. I changed the angle downwards 3 rides later and noticed an immediate difference in how much more comfortable my wrists were. They no longer hurt and they no longer feel strained or tired while going for a ride.

Love your channel and content. I watch all your videos and reviews. I used to live in San Diego so your ride reviews always bring back great memories. But this was an awesome and informative video. For the most part, the sports bikes I've purchased in the past (Gixxer and Ducati) have had decent ergos/set-up with the brake and clutch levers already and I've never had to adjust them. But right now I'm having major OCD with the lever angle placement with my 2023 HD Breakout and 2024 HD Low Rider S. I changed out the grips on both of them and had to loosen the master cylinders which changed the angle placement of the levers-I forgot to mark where they were originally so my OCD is kicking in big time. With HDs it's more of an upright riding position and my arms are straight out. I found that I like the brake lever slight lower than level (I'm almost always riding with 2 fingers on it anyway), and the clutch lever ever-so-slightly higher than level. After dealing with my OCD to get each bike 100% perfect, I think I finally found the best angles for both bikes. Thanks for this video and reaffirming my decision.

Good tip, I see a lot of people have their levers turned up, it's sometimes a sign that they don't use the front brake. One thing I picked up from rising dirt bikes forever, was to set the levers a little farther pointed down if I was standing up a lot, positioned for standing. And to not tighten them up rigid, leave them a "little" loose, not floppy loose, but enough to let them move if you fall over. Better than trying to ride out without a clutch lever!

I always have brake lever pointed down for reasons mentioned. I keep my clutch control level with the bar. For me it's far more comfortable on my wrist and fingers. Everyone should adjust their controls for maximum comfort and control for themselves. Try out different variations. I recommend changing handlebars too if needed. Also you can change out levers. All of these things combined can enhance your riding. Again, if YOU need it. Everyone has different styles, comfort zones, needs, etc... But everyone should check their controls.

Does it mean when you use an ape hanger, you need to position your levers higher than level instead of lower than level? I just bought a small cruiser and levers hang a little lower just like in this video. But it gives me discomfort. I observed that my forearms are just parallel to the ground when I hold the handlebars. That's why I plan to raise the levers. I hope it won't mess up with the mirrors!

learn how to hold your hands properly. then learn how to regulate. you ride on straight arms - like on sticks.

As an adventure rider you stand up a fair bit on the pegs while on the trail...... then what.? careful calling out the "mistakes".

You would also need to adjust your levers in a position that is a compromise between sitting down and standing up on the bike. You definitely don't want them parallel to the ground when standing up, as it will flex your wrists even more...

@@RemiksAskani My point exactly. Motojinx is saying it´s a mistake having the levers different from straight down as an extension of your arm.....BOLLOCKS. Just pissed over him using words like mistake when it´s more of a question of how you ride.
