This video show you roughly what it would take to put new gears in the window motors of a Ford product anything from really the 1980s up until the late 90s so from 1982 up to 1997 this would work in the E-150 and also the Club Wagon Vans also of course the F-series pickup which would be the F150 F250 F350. And quite a few others now I do show how to reinstall the regulator and motor back into this 1988 Club Wagon Econoline van because that's specifically what I was working on but this is really to show you how you can replace the gears and not replace a good working motor to save yourself some money. This will allow your windows to start going back up and down again with smoothness. So if you're window has stopped going up and down on your Ford product but you can still hear the motor running then most likely you need this fix

in place of the push washers, I've made my own out of plastic from a milk jug, just drill a hole one size smaller than the bolt and thread it on

Just so you know there's usually dimples in the door if not you can figure out where the bolts are in the motor drill half inch holes remove the motor without taking out the regulator way easier that way I've done hundreds of them

I did this on one side. It kinda sucked. When I did the second one I left the regulator in the van. Don't drill thr rivets out. Drill 3 1/2" holes to remove the bolts that hold the motor. Mine did not have dimples where the holes go, but I used step drills and was able to 'wallow' the holes to match the bolts. It came out pretty clean and much time saved.

Great job! That Ford van sure is a very clean. I have done a lot of window regulators and I have to explain those cuts on my forearm and wrists lol! That's really cool you can get all the replacement parts and still use the original window motor.

Hey-Great how to. Just did mine with a low cost motor with your help. Had I seen your video before buying the motor, I'd have rebuilt mine. The aftermarket one is less than half the size of the OEM. I'll still rebuild the original for a spare. Thanks

I kind of wonder why they would use plastic gears since they are probably less durable than brass, possibly it saves the manufacturer money.

Robert Sitch it's supposed to be a sacrificial piece to save the more expensive motor from damage... But mainly cost.. remember They were using nylon gears on the engines timing gears too!

Safety, that is why. If someone gets an arm or their head stuck in the window path, the plastic will be crushed and the motor will just free wheel instead of harming the person, pet or what have you. Also will keep motor from overheating and catching fire. 😁
