FIX for DEFLATE64 ERROR in Virtual DJ 8

Summary: VDJ8 does Not support Deflate64 compression / decompression.
Error: "Deflate64 zip files not supported"
Unzip Deflate64 compressed karaoke songs and rezip into VDJ8 Supported standard Windows compressed file archives.
There are ways of doing this en masse but for the occasional "Deflate64 zip files not supported" this is a quick work around. Unzip with Windows and simply rezip with Windows.
I name usable version with GOOD via Tag Editor as shown. You can rename Deflate64 version as well or delete the redundant copy. I'm choosing to keep the original in the event VDJ begins to support Deflate64 compression / decompression.
Video done on Windows 10. The steps may be somewhat different in other versions of VDJ and Windows but the solution is essentially the same.

I'm going to write a script that will do this recursively (for all the folders in the directory) and post it on GITHUB. May take me a week or so, but check back in a bit.

Found this right away. Looks like it's a linux command line script, but I think you can do this in windows if you download the bash shell: arstechnica.com/civis/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=93310

How did that work out for you, Anthony? I run Ubuntu in Oracle VirtualBox so either way is good with me. Just curious how the script worked for you. Cheers!

No idea what you're asking about but the solution works. You will have to figure out the best way to decompress and then recompress your music and that depends on your OS, the tools you have at your disposal, if you can script, etc. Perhaps check out Mr. Cashaw's scripting solution.

Joseph - I've done this dozens of times and other DJs in our group have used the same methodology. If the original compressed file is good, this will work. You're simply using different (i.e. industry standard) compression. Standard troubleshooting would be to just decompress and try to play the actual .MP3 file. Is it good or corrupt? Try another file to test the process. If you follow the steps and it doesn't work, the actual music file or perhaps even the .CDG file is corrupt.

You bet. I hope it worked out ok for you. Another way to test is to strip out any unnecessary steps so when I suggested just playing the .MP3 file I mean just unzip with Windows and then use any MP3 player (i.e. eliminate Virtual DJ) and test the integrity of the unzipped or decompressed file.

How do you fix the problem when the song only plays 30secs ?

This has nothing to do with the type of compression used. Are you playing a streamed version that isn't fully cached? There are a number of reasons this could be happening. You could load a different song, right click the song you're having an issue with, right click on it and rescan the song. VDJ does a decent job of figuring out the BPM and other parameters of the music. A rescan could help but only if the problem is with the metadata. Read the forums. You'll find posts on this but it is well outside the scope of the decompression / recompression solution for the DEFLATE64 ERROR in Virtual DJ. Good luck.
