Did this 2 years ago on the wheels the previous owner curbed. Held up for 2 years, impressive! I'm gonna get new rims this summer and will be moving away from dip but it has served me well!

ure doing it wrong dude, you should join to dyc first. they're working with incredible heavy dip-cans.

you gotta join the dip gym. quench yourself in dip cleaner until bone dry. when you do curls, make sure you dip the bar below your crotch for full extension. then hop over to the dip bar and do some dips. we recommend 7-8 coats of dips. your next workout is to head over to the overhead dips. you'll need to rotate so that you don't miss any areas.

This is really helpful! Just yesterday I slid out on ice and snow and hit a curb with a great amount of impact, I was pretty disappointed on the look of the rim until I came across this video. 👍

Hi Fonzie! Been watching your videos for quite some time now - very informative.I want to try and dip my wheels after making some repairs to them, but the question I have is should I dip the wheels on or off the car? The reason why this is frustrating me is because my wheels do not have a cover over the bolt holes (lugs?) and are exposed like the wheel in this video. If I dip the wheels on the car and I have to remove the wheel afterwards for whatever reason, will this cause extensive damage around the wheel bolt area?Similarly, if I dip the wheels off the car and then mount the wheels onto the car, will tightening the bolt cause problems on the dipped surface (i.e. will it pull / stretch the product and will it therefore look messy?)I hope I've been able to explain what my concerns are and I would be grateful for a reply

When would u recommend using a filler for the deeper scratches?

Were those wheels polished metal, with or without clearcoat, or painted, and if coated, scraped through clearcoat into the metal? If the damage was to metal, not paint, sanding smooth would be mode difficult?

Nice! What do you do about the weights on the inner side of the wheel? I guess the wheel needs to be rebalanced after both sanding and applying plastidip, right?

Nice, BUT the very 1st time your wheels hits a curb (it always happens as told at the beginning), won't the DIP unpeel ans the original color show again, making it even worse. Can you then just sandpaper the new scratch and DIP it, or do you have to take the whole DIP away and start again?

I scuffed my wheels (very similar to video wheel) the other night and was very upset with myself! Had the car for over a year and the car is still pristine! I watched several videos on how to fix the scuffs and got a lot of good ideas! It seems like they did WAY to much work, for such an easy job! I simply got my 5 inch orbital sander (wish it was 3 but that's what I had). I didn't take of wheel and used 120 grit paper to sand it down, remove the visible scratches and make it even. I then used 60 grit paper to make it really smooth and it looks GREAT! Now going to polish the slight blemishes with a buffer and maybe polishing compound?

i think your going the wrong direction in grit, what you meant to say was sanded with 120 then went up in grit to smoothen it? 60 grit is very rough.

Can I use bondo to repair some really deep marks in the rim? its right at the edge of the spokes so you cant really sand it down, you need to fill it in.

but what happens if you wash your car and wheels at a do it yourself car wash? same question goes for the matte paint jobs from other videos?

This is great until you need to rotate your tires and the lug nut area peels off or when a new tire needs to be mounted the dip peels off the edge of the rim.

I recently curb rash my passenger side rim after 2 months of having them new 😭. Is that common because fonzy said everyone does it. But I believe 2 months is just an F in my case.

Your wheel although sanded is now uneven and contains low spots. Why didn’t you fill in the sanded low spots with a Bondo Filler or other Epoxy Filler? Then , an application of primer? Before applying the Dipping Paint?

Remember folks, If you dip new wheels and then curb the wheel. the dip will reduce the damage from the curb since it is layers on top of the clean original finish.

Can dip paint spray with Clear coat?

Is it okay to coat the rims with Plasti dip without a primer?
