I've never worn this sweater because it is so stretched out - I decided to do something about it and share what I learned!

This is great, your finished result looks so good! I can see this being immensely helpful with sweater patterns that are knit entirely in one piece including the neckband since those tend to stretch out the most. I bet you could use this for socks too. Something else that I’ve found is using a folded neckband, the act of sewing it down keeps it from stretching so much and has a really finished look to it. I used it on a raglan sweater for my husband to make sure it never loses shape, as well as doing a crochet chain along the shoulder seams to reinforce them, kind of my secret trick. P.S. I always love seeing Nutella!!
This is exactly what I was looking for and you explained everything so concisely - thank you! Fingers crossed! x
Thank you! I knitted a sweater that I love but it stretched to the point that I couldn't wear it. I had asked for some guidance at a knitting shop but no one there had any ideas for me. I have been looking for answers and I found it on your site. I am so pleased....

that is weird that the knit shop had no help!
Just found this video, and it was exactly what I needed! My first time sewing elastic into a knitted project, to tighten up the brim of a hat. Your tutorial was so clear and easy to follow, and my project turned out exactly how I wanted! :)
Wow, I followed your instructions on putting elastic in the loose neck edge on a sweater and I cannot tell you how thankful I am I found your video. It saved the sweater for me and it looks like there is no elastic there at all, plus there is a bonus, it’s much easier to get over my head with a little bit of elastic in there
Thanks so much for this... exactly what I was looking for to fix a sweater.
Great tutorial, I have some stretvhed knits that I was planning to add an elastic tape but this is much better!
Thanks so much for the demonstration. Exactly what I was searching for. Now on to fixing my sweater!
Thank you so much for this - sorted out the armholes on the vest top I knitted perfectly!
Yes!! This is perfect!! Exactly what I needed. I spent the last month knitting myself a jumper and then I tried it on and hated it because the ribbing is so loose and shapeless that it looks like a tent. I was considering adding shirring elastic but I didn't know how to stitch it so this tutorial is exactly what I needed to watch.
You just saved my favorite sweater. Thank you!!
Good job on knitting your 1st sweater - great tutorial on showing us how to sew in elastic for knitted items. I actually found you when searching on fixes for knit rib cuffs. But will try adding elastic to cuff after I fix the ravel. tfs! I also subscribed!
I was just going to do one of my jumpers with elastic and had no idea of how I was going to do it! So, thank you so much for the great tips 😊
Thank you so much. Great explanation and it’s worked really well in my too loose jumper neckline.
Nice instruction video for fixing stretched out sweaters. I will use your technique on the stretched out collars of my dog's winter sweaters. I get the sweaters large enough to fit the neck and shoulders of my beautiful pit bull. It only takes a half dozen wearings before the collar opening has stretched to the point where it sort of hangs there and I'm constantly tugging it back up where it belongs! This will work to fix the problem!
Exactly what I needed as was wanting to tighten an area on knitted doll clothes. Thank you.
Brilliant, can't wait to try this on two sweaters that fit almost perfectly except for the stretched-out neck ribbing!
I love your dog beautiful love and hugs sent to your dog. Love what you knitted its lovely so lovely. Great video.
So glad I found this video. I have the same problem with the first sweater I ever knit. I love it except for the collar that is too loose. This will be the perfect fix!! Thanks!
Congratulations, well done! I’ve added elastic to some of my projects to get a proper fit as well, but never three rows, only one, but I’m it makes sense to do three. Thank you!
I love how your new blue sweater turned out! 👍😄♥️
Wished I had seen this video years ago, I got rid of a sweater I really liked bc it wasn’t fitting properly and this might have been useful in fixing it. You did a beautiful job on the shirt!
I love this video. It was the only 2 x 2 ribbing fix I could find.🥰
This is so helpful! Thank you.
Beautiful sweater and you are beautiful too. Thank you for this video I have some sweaters I messed up on the gauge and I put them in timeout now I will try this ti fix me yokes and sleeves
Brilliant and very well explained thank you
very interesting on how to fix sweaters that stretch out. good instructions!!!!
Beautiful knitted sweaters very talented 😁
Thanks for this video I will use this to fix my colorwork sweater
Thank you so much. Very helpful. ❤
Omg, bought a sweater and it fit great except the neck was too low. Did this and it’s perfect thanks for the great tip! The sweater wasn’t homemade but it worked just as well.

I have a sweater I love but the neckline is absurdly stretched. I'm going to do this. Thank you so much for the tutorial.
Really good instructions 👍thanks
this is awesome! just what I needed :-)
i bought a sweater recently which fits perfectly except in the sleeve cuffs - i've been looking for how i can get just the cuffs to sit tighter without any bunching of the fabric. this method seems like exactly what i'm looking for - thanks so much for posting!
Thanks! Just what I needed
Thank you for this!
This is so helpful!
Thank you young lady good information!
I _love_ your channel.
I have a sweater that I think this might work for ... thanks for the video!
Well done!
Thank you so much! I appreciate you.
This could not be more perfectly timed, even though it is three year old! I went up a few sizes as I prefer oversized jumpers but as the neckline is so low, it is only just narrow enough to not fall off my shoulders when I stay very still. I am going to use this to tighten it up a bit so I can actually wear my newly knitted jumper!
Brilliant!
Thank You for idea. ❤️❤️
This is very helpful, thank you! Why did you use one very long thread of elastic instead of three more manageable lengths? Is there an advantage to it that I am nor seeing? How does this work on sweaters that have a neck shape that isn't circular?
New subscriber. Watching oldest videos.
Thank you 😊
You can find elastic thread at any store that sells sewing supplies.
Very helpful. I didn't catch the pattern name for the first sweater with the lace. Could you please let me know the name? Thanks
Cutest dog ❤❤❤❤
thank you! does this work for the waist part as well? my sweater's waist garter is really lose too.
خیلی خوب بود ،ممنونم Thanks
Thanks u just save my closet
Beautiful sweater. Did you post a link to that? You cannot go wrong with Madeline Tosh. Thanks for the tutorial.
Thank you so much! I need to do this on a couple of sweaters. BTW: what is the pattern name for your sweater? I love it!
Wow, what a great idea. I like your sweater. The color looks nice on you. One thought. The back looks a little big. It would fit you better if it was also tighter. Maybe try your trick there too. 😉
Could i share a picture of my one sweater which i really like but too too much losse that i cant wear so can u help me plsss
Thank you! Would anyone care to let me know what kind of stitch she’s threading on the collars please? I don’t know if she’s mentioned it in the video so thanks to anyone who helps.
Wow!
You can buy clear stretchy thread. It would be more invisible.
can this work for loose turtlenecks
I have a shrug and the weave is very open. Is there some way I could use your technique to make this smaller in the middle back?
I missed it; did you alternate direction of the rows? Why not just cut the ends off without knitting them into the yarn? Is the bottom supposed to be loose like yours or tight?
Where can I get the pattern for your Tecna sweater
Nutella is an amazing name 😊
Super
Thank you for this video. Now I can fix a stretched out turtleneck.
Beautiful love for India
I’m not a fan of fastspeed
Why is there so much nattering , let's get down to it straight away
qute dog :)
Knit peices ? They called stitches.
Got fed up. Sorry. Skipping this.
There is no collar on this sweater. A neckline, yes, but no collar.
This was a great tutorial for a fix! Thanks so much!
