    My first freehand attempt this week at a bunch of SUNFLOWERS turned out to be more like DAHLIAS . Then at my second attempt, I managed a giant sunflower, so cute that I want to talk to her. Blob a long, Weed.....for those of us old enough to be raised on Bill and Ben, the Flower Pot Men. The distinctive thing about a SUNFLOWER is that the centre is massive and out of all proportion to the flower head. I'm still not managing to do a Turkish Rug Stitch flower. Yet. Thanks for the inspiration.

    Sarah's "Waste Not" knot method is a very handy way to keep the back side of your embroidery tidy, and the two tiny starting stiches eventually get "locked" in place underneath your other stitching. This way yku don't have to contantly turn your embroidery hoop over to knot threads on the back, and it eliminates the bulk & mess of knotting on the back side. You'll get used it it and appreciate it; I sure did! Watch all of her Beginner videos and you'll learn all kinds of tricks to make it an enjoyable hobby! I did!🤓💪

    Sarah and Jonathon, thank you for fulfilling my order so quickly, it arrived today. Sarah, when doing the picot petal sunflower, can you strand the thread from one completed petal to start the next one and how would you go about adding more than one colour to each petal? But if anyone else knows, I'd appreciate the help. Thank you. Our cats hope yours are well and chasing leaves. (It makes a change from shrews here).

  • @SarahHomfrayEmbroidery

    @SarahHomfrayEmbroidery

    2 жыл бұрын

    I suggest finishing one petal off and starting the next one with a new thread Carole. That way if it should go wrong for any reasons you don't have to take out a good petal! You can change colours but it's a bit awkward: you would need to thread a new colour in from the back somehow. You might need to do some experimenting to make this work! (Our cats are fast asleep next to the radiators!)
