Mulled Wine. Bottles of a full bodied red, Merlot is good. Port, Orange Juice, lemonade, sliced oranges and apples. Nutmeg, Cloves, Cinnamon sticks and sugar. Some use star anise as well. We have "teabags" over here of Mulled wine spices, which would be one per bottle of wine. I do mine in a preserving pan. 4 bottles of wine, half a bottle of port, top the pan up with orange juice and lemonade. add spices, fruit and mulled wine bags. warm on a low heat, do not boil, takes about an hour to get to temperature. Re tasting bitter, just keep adding sugar or orange juice until it is not :) . Reduce amounts to brew less, I just always do a lot!!!! Good luck with your next batch!

Where I live, we are also forming a tradition of re-recognising Twelfth Night, where we get together for a meal, sing The Twelve Days, mix in some French traditions and so on. This is because we are part of a Twinning Association with a similar French community in France, where we take it in turns each year to meet in each other's country for a weekend. Some really good friendships have been made.

Christmasday, Boxingday and New Year'sday are all bank holidays and it's so common to take off the time between Christmas and New Year that many businesses shut down.

Merry Christmas from England. I love all the things we have for our British Christmas it makes it special. If you ever come back you have to try mince pies and cream or Christmas pudding with cream it's lovely. Especially when laced with brandy. Mulled wine from my understanding can't just be made from any wine it has to be a certain type of grape that blends with the Christmas spices to taste good

This year, because Christmas day and Boxing day are at the weekend Monday and Tuesday has also be given as statutory holiday this year. Some people may work those days especially retail but can have the days at a later date. Most shops are closed on Christmas day.

I'm English but only acquired the taste while living in Australia where Christmas pudding was serves hot with ice cream and Marsala poured over it. However my family got hooked on Christmas pudding ice cream where you mix a cooked, cooled pudding with clotted cream ice cream, Double cream, Cointreau put into a lined bowl and freeze. Oh my goodness!

Hey guys, Glad you came to visit England, & I pray you were treated well with pleasant memories to carry with you. Isn't England, the mother, with God the Father, that gave birth to America? Or do you call it New England? Not a massive fan of mince pies but with a warm muld wind aka hot spicy liquid refreshment can always perk you up. Like a pile of fluffy pancakes and bacon drizzled with maple syrup for breakfast with an orange juice. English, American, or Japanese with jalapenos, I say all human in need of Jesus and grace. Maybe you could do a church out reach serve up some English dishes you discovered to our American brothers and sisters could be cool. Not sure if we could do the same over here, sure can try but I think the portions would be twice the size. Lol. Mary CHRISTmas to you and your direct family and to us as a whole. Just uploaded a new video to say happy birthday to Jesus please feel free to like and subscribe or share. And look forward to seeing you guys soon. I'm pretty sure marshmallows around a campfire with chocolate dip and a guitar tastes pretty good whichever the geographical location. With blended accents is always a bonus. I personally like the American accent, yeehah! 😋 With love God bless Jesus is Alive!!! ✝️💕🏃🌎💨

@@SchaeferFamilyAdventureHi as it is an old recipe that has come down through the family, we use the imperial measurements rather than metric. The US pumpkin spice is similar to the UK mixed spice. 16oz = 1lb Mincemeat 1 ½ lb Cooking apples 10oz brown sugar 1 lb raisins juice 1 lemon 8oz currants ½ tsp mixed spice 8oz sultanas 4 tbs brandy 8oz suet Peel, core & slice apples. Cook them without water. Mash to pulp & leave to cool. Put all other ingredients in bowl. Stir in apple & mix well. When cold put the mincemeat in jars for storage.
