That is dumb, when you know and respect the power you are safest. That and yrs of experience riding. Been riding 40 plus yrs dirt then street, fear kills. Knowing your limits and not riding beyond them or even really pushing them except on track makes you safe. Best thing for newbies is track time where you can safely improve and find your limits and bikes. Streets are wrong place for pushing any limits. Unless you like dying. List to.many new riders to streets do to lack.of experience, many as new riders learning on streets not like many of us older survivors. Got skills in dirt whete it is safer. Had 8 yrs dirt bikes before the street. I reacted without even thinking on streets cause i was 100% comfortable riding before i faced traffic and cars. First panic stop or avoidance you better know what to do on instinct, no time to think just do. Good luck to all new riders be safe and live long so you can enjoy the ride.😊
I started on my 600RR. I am terrified of this monster and respect it! Been learning way slower than I would like but I want to keep my legs

there is no such thing as learning slow. you are doing it correctly! so take your time and don’t feed into what social media shows. someone could be doing wheelies in one month of riding, doesn’t mean we all have to. keep practicing and dont forget to hit those parking lots! 🤙 you got this

Is counter steering on heavy bike is same on a 125cc motorcycle?
@MedusaMoto

@@lenkagamine6121 hmm that’s a good question! i think generally yes it is easier on a small bike just for the fact that it’s lighter. with a heavier bike, there’s more weight there. but i wouldn’t say it’s difficult. just need to be mindful of the weight difference

just for the record: counter-steering works at low speeds too (even on bicycles) you just don't notice. Veritasium has a video about the bicycles, and motojitsu has vids of going slow in a lot and counter-steering on a motorcycle

This is a bit old but as long as you don't hammer it north of like 7k rpm it shouldn't be much of a handful. The one nice thing about 600s is you dont hit their peak power until like 14-15k rpm which gives a lot of wiggle room. Liter bikes you're just fucked all around 😂
Watching this video is super enjoyable to see different perspectives, my first bike was 2007 R1. I do motocross, so riding 450cc dirtbikes for pretty much 4+ years gave me the confidence to get on a litre bike. I of course DO NOT recommend doing that because no one has the same personal experience, amazing video to give advice to any new riders.

@bones1631
10 ай бұрын
@@MedusaMoto The dirt to road change definitely threw me off as I expected it to be relatively the same and it wasn't very similar, but what gave me so much confidence in my riding is that I had that prior experience riding powerful bikes, that my turning, handling, and just overall comfortability on the bike was above average. The power was the first thing I noticed though when stepping on the street for the first time. The position as well really threw me a curveball as going from the upright seated position to the bent over position was difficult. I've been riding street now for probably 9 months and have only dropped the bike 3 times. I think what really sets the dirt and road experience apart is the other people on the road, on the track you are with other people who know what is around them and know how to avoid you to get by, but the people on the road are either oblivious or like you said: simply don't care enough to pay attention to us. And the power difference honestly was not as severe as I was expecting, I limit myself of course but knowing I rode 450cc bikes, I knew a 600cc wouldn't satisfy me but with that being said I ride my 1k like its a 600, not using all the power (most of the time anyway) and staying safe to allow myself to enjoy the bike and its entirety. Hope this helped, I can answer any more questions you may have as well !!

Bikes don't have a big enough magnetic signature to make the traffic lights change. If you roll your back tire to the line, it leaves plenty of room for a car to get close enough to trigger it. Coax them if you have to. It might surprise you how many people are hesitant to get too close at a light. We bikers can be somewhat touchy about being crowded.

The Navy even provides the course for free as well as an advanced course and you have to get a refresher every few years. People do crash generally coming back from a deployment since it's just been a while.

You should ride on the left or right hand side of the lane, the middle is where most of the oil spills go 🫡

Hey bro I see you ride the south shore a lot. With a 636 you need to go hit up Oyster Bay, Milneck, Bayville area go check out Center Island beach. The roads are made for that bike. Bayvilles history is a big biker destination. You won’t be disappointed. If you decide to go into center island DONT SPEED! You won’t make it out with out a ticket.

I bought a ninja 650 ABS as my first bike, and it’s been great, and YES I have nightmares about dropping it. And did you downshift twice before yanking that throttle? I’m a new rider so I’m wondering if you dropped two gears before racing it.
@MedusaMoto
Жыл бұрын
niceee!! and yes haha you’ll always have nightmares about dropping your bike, it’s totally normal. i did drop 2 gears before getting on it just because i was going too slow for the gear right below. so i dropped 2 so that i can be in the powerband (higher RPMs) when i get on the throttle. it all just depends on how fast you’re going and where you are in your rpms 🤙🤙

I just went to my local dealership to look at the last 2023 zx6r they had. I sat on it and that alone scared me because my feet didn’t sit flat on the ground 😂 the bike just felt intimidating compared to a 250 from the course, even by the width and size. I can’t even imagine the power difference 😅 Since I left there I’ve been watching videos like yours and realize I’m not the only one who felt like this lol I’m just gonna have to pull the trigger and get one! I don’t want to get a 400 and end up selling it less than a year later

@@MedusaMoto that is if he has rode anything before. If he's never been on a bike ever, the first time he twist the throttle and the bike jumps and he death grips the throttle shooting him into traffic or dumping it in the parking lot, it might be a different story.
I'm thinking about getting one of these should be interesting considering the fact that I've never ridden a motorcycle a day in my life unless of course you were counting a four-wheeler which I doubt.

Sounds like to me starting on a 600cc Supersport is about as scary as starting on anything anybody else doesn't deem a good starter bike. But with more power 😂. I've been on my ninja 650 for about 2 weeks now. It ain't anything crazy but I was...cautious with the amount of throttle I used in my first week. I gradually got more and more ballsy with it until I felt what full throttle was like. It's actually incredibly manageable for me. I've driven some faster cars at speeds that are definitely not illegal before so I have an understanding what power is like. I hopefully want to upgrade later this summer if not maybe next riding season to a zx6r, or if I'm dumb enough and r1, because those kawasaki parallel twins sound so gutless lmao

Scared is dangerous. Respectful, is different. Regardless of a 125hp 636, or a 280hp H2, it's the respect you have for the machine. Don't be scared. A decent race school would benefit you.
