Not true. They used to have Amateur Nights on Wednesdays, and the winners would make it to the TV tapings. I think later on, they might've stopped doing it that way because some acts couldn't get cheers at a train station.

I'll take this over The Voice, American idol, AGT and etc. This is wayyyy funnier.

I think it was more because his voice didn't project. Lack of self confidence actually causes his brain to make his voice quieter the longer he sang (hiding in plain sight). He probably does alright when he is by himself or in a small group.

I loved staying up late to watch this show. Toughest room on the PLANET, but if you brought it hard enough, and won the crowd, that energy was off the charts!! I’m still watching Apollo faithfully on Pluto tv!! It’s such great nostalgia! There’s a bunch of amateurs I’ve seen that are now stars today and a lot of artist I had forgotten about like The Good Girls, The Boys, De la Soul and Digable planets…..those were the days
