Good subject. I would also include ORG and Speakers Corner in the same group you mentioned of audiophile labels dedicated to create records of very high quality. In terms of pressing plants, currently is RTI and QRP in US and Optimal and Record Industry in Europe. That's it. They are not perfect (not even RTI); sometimes they screw up (no fill, misaligned labels, warping) but I would say that 95% of the time they output a very decent product. EVERYTHING ELSE (United, Rainbo, MPO and SPECIALLY GZ Vinyl) is pretty much a crapshoot.

Ugh...right when I saw the 4 "Men Without Ears" graphic at the start I literally spit up the coffee I was drinking....truly the WORST pressing company ever!!!🙉🙉🙉🙉🙉🙉🙉🙉 Speakers Corner is one of my favorites....everything I have purchased from them is truly first class....from sound, packaging and presentation! Great video...keep up the great work👍

UHQR was used by the old MFSL but owned by JVC (Japan) who pressed Mo-Fi records in the 70s and 80s.

Thanks for posting this video. I was confused about what is available and one local record store sent me to the "Guy" in back. Let's just say he was less than helpful and if he had any knowledge was not about to share it. Another local shop was super nice and helpful but only knew a little about MoFi and actually found me a copy of Melissa Machester for $9.00! I have taken notes from your post and will now know what to look for. Very nice explanation of audiophile labels.

Hi, thanks for another great vid. In addition to the labels you mentioned I love Sundazed for 60’s rock, Kent for Soul reissues and Sam Records for jazz.

Hello Dylan ! Another excellent , informative video. The availability of these labels are actually getting better by the month , here in Sweden. The prices are a little steep because of the import and luxury taxes but HEY , if I want it , I’ll buy it. By the way........(drumroll), my number 300 is going to be either Greta van Fleet’s new album or D-A-D’s 1st time on vinyl reissue of ”Everything glows”. Which ever one arrives first in the mail. Both are released April 16th. Although I still got exactly 65 left on my current wishlist , and 12 of them are grails , hahaha. Stay safe and play something loud , bro.

Mo-Fi when they started were standard weight but pure virgin vinyl, you can see thru them. And they were pressing in Japan. Yes I was around to remember them starting. They had ultra discs back then too.

I can get uber UBER snobby when it comes to information 'gathered and delivered' in regards to record collecting and the higher end 'listening' community; all I can say is: absolutely job well done, Dylan! There a few lesser-recognized labels that release "audiophile-level-quality" records who's marketing mentality leans more toward the Audiophile community (one of them does not do 'reissues' but original releases of lost tapes / Jazz records only),but other that those few labels, AND aside from Music On Vinyl being one that I would be "on-the-fence" about in regards to being considered "audiophile level reissue record label " (though their pressing are pretty much fantastic), I think you hit the nail on the head. It's funny because you said that Friday Music is the one that is a bit controvertial, being on your list, and that is the only one I truly disagree with. Friday Music is by far not an audiophile level reissue label. I know Joe, and have for a few years, and I know his absolute focus is not to market to the Audiophile community. One of the characteristics of a true Audiophile reissue company is the company's mentality. True Audiophile reissue labels produce releases that are 90% marketed to the strict Audiophile/Stereophile community, and maybe 10 percent to the general music buying public; that's why they're released in such limited quantity. Friday Music's marketing mentality is to produce great sounding and great packaged reissues, with its marketing focused almost 100% on the general music buying public.... sort of like Sundazed. Sundazed is not an Audiophile reissue label, but they produce higher quality reissues focused at the general music buying public.... same thing with Friday Music. And though the Rainbo pressing facility was deemed a budget and affordable pressing facility, the only reason that Friday Music went over to RTI is because Rainbo shut its doors, and Joe got a deal over at RTI (because of personal relationship), otherwise it'd have been too expensive for Friday Music to press at RTI (I also know Steve Sheldon / Rainbo, and Don McKinnis / RTI). So Friday Music is the only one I disagreed with. Anyway, your video was fu**ing awesome. Subscribed! - TONE P.S. "ORG" is another reissue label that kind of rides the fence in regards to being considered and "audiophile reissue label"... they definitely put out audiophile quality remastered vinyl releases and when they do they are high quality remasters done at Pallas in Germany, but not all of their reissued releases are remastered... still high quality, but they are kinda 50%/50% in regards to their markleting mentality being focused on the strict audiophile community .... I'd put them in the same category as Music On Vinyl. There's also Music Matters which is a 100% focused Audiophile reissue label, but is Jazz only and releases only Blue Note classics, but the highest of quality. Cheers!

Music On Vinyl is one of them too... the quality of the vinyl is even better than MoFi. i sadly own multiple MoFi's where the vinyl's came out the seal and got a lot of scratches and even a deep small scratch on it.

I am and have been Tull fan since day one. Problem with Aqualung is the original, original, original master tapes were bad cause the studio they were in was so big and acoustics so bad Ian couldn't get a good recording. The Steve Wilson re-mix is actually the best I've heard with re-mixing and keeping it with the feel of the original.

Alot of these audiophile labels don't dig deep enough. Sometimes, not always, the first press cannot be beat. Intervention is a fave Craft lately, is great too.

For the Jazz fans I give you Music Matters Jazz. They reissue Blue Notes titles. Master by Kevin Gray . This led to Blue Notes current Tone Poets and Classic reissue program of past ant current release.

Friday Music - Somehow they did a great job on Boston but I would generally avoid. Even KG cuts fall well short of original pressings. MOV I would generally stick to more modern titles that are digital recordings unless they are pressed from AAA lacquers (Dylan Mono). I've found MOV reproductions of older analogue recordings to sound disappointing. Speakers Corner and Pure Pleasure should have been included in this video along with Impex, ORG, ORG Music (different from ORG), Analog Spark and Intervention Records. I would also include some of the Warner/Reprise output, notably the Neil Young reissue program. Many of these labels use Pallas in Germany, the best European pressing plant.

I picked up both Gov't Mule Life before Insanity and Alan Parson I Robot and both sound PHENOMENAL! I agree though...this company is hit or miss...but thankfully both these pressings sound great and highly recommended if you are a fan of each album 👍 Edit: I meant to say...I picked up both from MOV 🤔

I personally don't find Friday Music to be an essential audiophile label. Most of their output is marginal at best and I've had more defective product from them than any other label. They wouldn't make a list of 5 if I were doing one.
