Fitting for Edea Ice Skates & Questions

We took a trip to Advent Health Center Ice Proshop and sat down with Nicole to ask some questions we had about being fit into Figure skates. Join us while I get a set up with Edeas after retiring my Jackson Debuts.
Thank you so much to Rink side sports and Nicole for fitting me and answering my questions!

I'm really in love with them! I'm already comfortable after only a couple days of skating in them!

im a beginner figure skater, and because my foot was way to wide in JACKSONS, i was forced to get a higher lvl boot. so i ended up getting freestyles ext. wide

Did you get them heat molded? I heard that is not possible with edeas, is that true?

Heat molding isn't really a thing with Edea skates. I did have some parts adjusted. I had my heal pinched in and the eyelets around my ankle bone bent so they didn't dig into my skin. They did warm the skates up and we tied them like you would do with heat molding just so I could walk around in them.

LOVE my Ice Flys so much!! I see you have tattoos... does your skating club allow members to have tattoos? Here in Tokyo, Japan, the figure skating club I belong to doesn't allow tattoos and they're ground for expulsion!!!

That's crazy, I haven't seen a club here in the states that doesn't allow Tattoos. The only type of skating that has restrictions are syncro teams. I wonder if the rules will change in the future for you.

@@AmbrosiaAudie Given that tattoos are also prohibited in most hot springs, public swimming pools, beaches & gyms around here, I don't see them changing anytime soon (it always creates commotion when international sports events are held here, international athletes come -not figure skating specific- , some have tattoos and can't use this, can't use that. ) I have a medusa piercing (piercing in the middle and above my upper lip) and a labret piercing (piercing in the middle and below my lower lip) and they don't have an issue with it in figure skating. It's the tattoos that are a no no in so many places since for centuries it's only the mafia that has them around here. But times changed and many young people want them here too, but they're prohibited in so many places, even workplace too. I wanted one, but I love figure skating more than my wish for a tattoo, so no tattoo for me, I guess :(

Who knows where your life will bring you! I love piercings and its beautiful that you have them and even more wonderful that your club doesn't give you any problems about it. I hope one day I'll be able to visit some of the ice rinks in Japan (Hopefully without any issues about my tattoos) lol

Can I ask what your feet measure and what size Edeas you have ?

Once I found a boot that was the most fitted I did need to have some parts molded and punched out. A lot of beginner boots are overall comfortable with little to no modifications needed, but the higher more stiff boots need to have some work done in order to make them the most comfortable and safe for the skater. I ended up wearing a 250D and then made many adjustments. Based on my foot measurement I should actually be in a 245D but those are uncomfortable for me.
