Unsure if it's a good idea or not from a safety perspective, but it seems to work for me. If I have to deal with painted copper pipe tails, I heat them with the blow torch and most of the paint just flakes away. Interesting video to compare ways of working!

I have done that way once before, yes defiantly be careful with the older properties, you never know if that pain is the old lead stuff, I've got to try to tread carefully with what things you display to the public on here (I say this then I go and use wood as a heat shield) many thanks for the input mate, please do educate me if you see me using poor practice
