    The loading bars for the functional trainer, do they support 1" & 2" weights with sleeve, or is it 2" Olympic only ? Either way the price on this machine looks too good. I'd apply the same question to the Smith bar.

  • @Danboarding

    Do you still recommend this rack? Are the smith and cables still smooth? It seems so light at 150lbs for all the feature it has. Also, do you know what the maximum weight capacity is? Thanks for the review!

  • @Danboarding

    @Danboarding

    3 жыл бұрын

    I would recommend this if you're only in need of a light duty rig that has a cable system and smith machine functionality. It is inexpensive and you pay for what you get. This will not give you the same smoothness and rigidity as what you would expect from a commercial grade rig. I have never tried maxing out the rig and I could not even find info on what maximum weight it would carry, so I have no clear answer to the capacity limit of the thing.

  • @seabreezeof

    How smooth are the pulleys. Also how are the bearings on smith machine?

  • @Danboarding

    @Danboarding

    3 жыл бұрын

    The pulleys are okay, not commercial quality. They would at times bind/get stuck but only because I have not aligned them properly but once I made the adjustments they work well afterwards. The smith machine is fine, again not commercial quality. The bearings on it are not the smoothest, but I only say that because I know how commercial grade smith machine feels. However, for home and personal use these ones are okay.

  • @Danboarding

    @Danboarding

    6 жыл бұрын

    Hi there! For personal use, yes, though I have to point out some issues that one may encounter with the rig. The smith machine bar can be difficult to hook and unhook with that slot-style racking system. The functional trainer is not as smooth as I thought it would be when I got to compare it with a commercial-grade functional trainer. The weight plates loading style takes up a bit of time when changing weights as compared to one that comes with weights that you can just pin/unpin. For the price, I would recommend it, but if I have more cash to spend I probably would look for something else. Hope that helps!

    @@johnsonying2193 In my experience, the Smith machine bar is not as smooth as, say, ones that are in a commercial gym, but I sort of expected it considering the price of this rig. It is not that bad and is quite use-able. If ever you get one, you have to make sure that during assemble the hooks of the Smith bar is perfectly matched so that when you un-rack and rack the bar, it will be a smooth affair. I had mine offset a bit and I had a tiny bit of trouble when I un-rack and re-rack the bar, but re-adjusting everything solved it right away.

    @@richardfleck7387 I have since sold it, only because I needed a squat rack for the strength training program that I switched to, which is to do press, squat and deadlifts. Since I do not have any need for isolation exercises, I had to let this rig go. I really loved it, but it was just taking up space not being used. Fortunately the buyer needed the specific functions this rig has to offer. No problem with the rig, I would have kept it but space was limited so I had to let it go.

  • @Danboarding

    @Danboarding

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hi there! Yes, sadly the instructions manual is nothing but an exploded view of the rig. I struggled a bit trying to figure out how to put it together myself. My tip is to lay all the part on the floor by referring to the instructions on where parts should go. You start with assembly of one side of the rig, then mirror it for the other side. I was my myself during the time I put the rig together, but I advice to have someone else to be with you when it comes to joining up the two sides because it is going to be really heavy! Good luck and thanks for checking out the video!

    @@michealknight3776 During the time that I was using it, it worked really well! The cable/pulley system worked great for isolating muscle groups. The smith machine is okay for when doing shoulder and bench presses, though they are not commercial quality so not as smooth as what you can find in commercial gyms. I have not gone really heavy with this set up, so I am not sure how well they will hold up with really heavy pounds of weights. Oh, with regards to putting it all together, I did it all by myself and was glad there was no accident, such as one side of the rig completed not falling down on me. I just propped one side against a wall and carefully balanced the other side while I tried installing the cross members that would join the pair. I would not recommend working on it by your lonesome; make sure to have a buddy or two to help!

    No lat pulldown or seated row?

  • @Danboarding

    @Danboarding

    5 жыл бұрын

    Unfortunately, no lat pull-down, but I do use the two cables to mimic the movement by kneeling down inside the rig and using the two cables to pull them down. Not the most effective, but it is what is available to try. Seated row I do the same thing by sitting in front of the machine, with both cables at the lowest setting. It's a compromise, and I do believe that this rig is not meant for those two movements.
