"The Hell We Create" is a banger off the top. The song has a real metalcore sound. That outro sounds like some of KsE, and those fast kicks really get me "Reaper" would be sick live. Amazing cleans by Ryan. Their new drummer I think stands out on this album. It's FFAK, so their hearts are seen on this album. 🤘

I really dig this album a lot. Pretty sure I also read an interview with Ryan Kirby where he talked about the lyrical content. A lot of it has to do with his wife surviving a stroke and more has to do with the trauma their adopted children have gone through. Knowing that makes the album hit so much harder

Another solid record from them. It’s fairly by the books and lacks some of the grit from the Slave To Nothing / Disease era, but the melodies are perhaps the best they’ve ever been. They definitely didn’t sell out or lose their flare, just went in a slightly different direction.

The albums have what the last album was lacking : variations within the songs. Last record was alternating between songs with boring and generic havy songs and decent soft songs. I love that in this album this is real singles, with cleans and screams, with heavy and soft in the same song. The songs feels like big metalcore song, not just filler songs.

The Path was pretty mid to me. I loved parts of it but ultimately, it didn't click the same way Dark Skies did when I first got into this band. I didn't have high hopes for this record because I thought they'd stick to that sound. But....This album is like Dark Skies 2.0 and I love it. I think if you're a longtime fan of metalcore and FFAK, you'll love The Hell We Create. Realistically though, I don't think its extremely innovative as it's pretty generic metalcore at times, but Its an A grade metalcore record. I only mention that because so many fans claim to hate generic metalcore, trash bands they don't like, yet they simultaneously praise new generic records for AOTY every week lmao

  • @justdidit3933

    @justdidit3933

I wouldn’t call this Dark Skies 2.0. It has quite a few lighter songs, the only “heavy” ones on the new record are Eyes Roll Back and Reaper. And the wide, melodic choruses that characterized Dark Skies in songs like Engraved, Youth Division, and Oblivion aren’t anywhere to be found. Don’t get me wrong, I’m enjoying THWC, but it’s pretty old school style metalcore that’s predictable. Remember the first time you heard those Backbreaker screams that tore right down to your soul or those wicked blast beats in Oblivion? The sound and feeling captured in Dark Skies to me seems noticeably absent.

  • @restoringforce9893

Oh man... give me a f**king break. All that stuff about innovation and etc is lame. Bands don't need to reinvent the whole genre every time they release a new record. The only thing that matters at the end of the day - is it a good record or not. The hell we create is a nice mix of Phinehas and Wage War with pinch of deathcore. Does it sounds generic to some degree? Absolutely. But people do love old generic metalcore. Just wrap it in the modern production and I'll take two:)

This reminds me of manic from wage war. has a little bit from their old old stuff, I mean, sink below would've fit right in on the album dark skies. then reaper was very 'the path' esc. and then they throw in a bunch of new stuff in there. im so spoiled this year between manic, this album and nothing more's new album

New album is insane. I liked their previous stuff but this is something else. They manage to make a busy and complex record without loosing catchiness. The melodies are beautiful and the heavy moments hits incredibly well. i love that they brought so many guests, it adds to the mind-blowing effect. This album reminded me a lot of Phinehas' The Fire Itself. Granted, both bands share a member. It's cool, in my opinion. Edit: regarding your review of this album not having the highs of The Path, I kind of felt that way initially, until I realized that this opinion could be biased due to The Path not having that many memorable tracks. So, when we got to the title track and Louder Voice, they stood out the most. However, in an overall solid album, pin-pointing a standout can be a bit difficult, hence the impression of the album not having that high.

Gotta be honest. This album was good The Path was also really good The only problem I had with this album was the lyrical content. I know I'm a slant plant simp, but the lyrics felt substantially worse than The Path, and leagues worse than Dark Skies Not all of the songs had weak lyrics, Fracture, and the one with Tuckers lyrics as the chorus, were really well made. Overall, solid album. We'll never get another Dark Skies, but this honestly gives me plenty of nostalgia. Also even better that once more, Fit For a King comes through with releasing a motivational album during such a trying time. Much love to the band, can't wait to see them again soon

I had a lot of high expectations from this album from the very moment Reaper was released. It increased even more when End came out. But I found myself unimpressed by the other singles and I was barely listening to the singles that I liked when it came out. So by the time the album came out, I was expecting it to be a worse version of The Path (which I actually really liked). But boy was I wrong. This album was absolutely phenomenal. Not exactly from start to finish but I have been listening to on repeat. I felt like it slowed down a little bit around the end but What You Left Behind really brought back my intrest. Easily my favorite track. Eyes Roll Back was fucking sick too. Overall, it's definitely in my Top 5 albums of the year so far. Ryan has really shown off his vocal range here and I'm glad they're finally using Daniel Gailey to almost his full potential. Overall I personally give this album a 8.5/10

i'm so happy with this ffak album, sometimes we need a classic and cliche metalcore, for me the best of the year so far.

As much as I loved this album, the breakdown of "What You Left Behind" brought up my trauma from "A Day To Remember - Brick Wall"

I just really wish they’d stick with their heavier sound. This is the best version of their melodic stuff. But even when it’s good, it’s still generic.

The hype for this album is throwing me for a loop. I’ve listened to it 3-4 times through so far and it’s just very… mediocre. The only songs that really stand out are End and What You Left Behind. The rest are just kind of boring and the heavy tracks are so forced that they hurt to listen to

I’m enjoying it but I understand your perspective 100%. I feel like the two heavy songs are only there because fans wanted the Dark Skies heaviness so FFAK just forced them, when really they wanted a lighter album. Personally I think even The Path was better than this one. And Dark Skies was in a tier of its own.

@@justdidit3933 Yessir. I really wish metalcore fans would stop harassing bands anytime they aren't writing 0-0-0 breakdowns/heavy for the sake of being heavy songs. The genre really needs experimentation because it's starting to get stale I'm afraid.

It's hilarious because I've seen a bunch of people with this opinion, but their 2 stand put songs are all different from each other. Basically the whole album has been listed at this point by people with the "mediocre album" take.

I mean its not a bad album, but its really not interesting to hear at all. No hate, but its there is nothing new here, but I think I get this feeling since the The Gloom in the Corner LP dropped on the same day, and their record is SO much more interesting to hear for me. Just my opinion, dont wanna spread any bad mood
