For reference, a lot of women say the pain of a bad fissure is worse than labor, it can often be just as mentally taxing as it is physically

Very informative & hopeful, reassuring video! I’m slowly getting better after living just over 6 weeks with my anal fissure. CRS said the cut isn’t very deep and looks good. Pain is now 50% better, no bleeding, spasms lessening. My CRS prescribed nifedipine, sitz baths, fiber, lots of water, walking, and stool softener. Last check up he said I should heal in about 4-5 more weeks if I keep doing well. Is it normal to take this long to heal? It’s better, but it’s slow!

30% for women. Really they need different treatments. A doctor at Columbia NY University cauterizes them- NO CUTTING! Cutting the spincter is possibly the dumbest thing I've heard to do. It also is a bad choice if you are prone to diarrhea.

I had mine cauterized and still have pain after a bowel movement even with soft stools from softeners and magnesium. I . It's been about 3 weeks since cauterization.@@anthrop7998 I do sitz baths, and use the diltiazem ointment. It takes a LONG time to heal.I am also taking L arginine. I read a study about anal fissures and this supplement. It is supposed to relax the spincter and increase blood flow. You have to take 1,000 3 times a day. It takes a month or longer to see improvement.I have only used a week.It is an overall safe supplement to take. Helps with nitric oxide which opens up blood vessels.

I want to share how I got rid of my fissures. I done so much research on this and after trying many different methods this is what helped me to be pain free. Go online and buy a 3oz ear bulb syringe for you will need this for cleaning the fissures. Go to the supermarket and buy a tube of Tenactin yes that's right the foot cream. When you feel a bowel movement fill a large cup with water and fill your bulb and give yourself an enema, it will sting like crazy the first few times you do this but you have to clean yourself out and also clean any crap that's in the fissure. No open wound will heal if there's poop in it. Once you're done take some Tenactin on your finger and put it in your canal where your fissure is and in about a week they will heal to where they won't be painful anymore. I remember crying at night knowing I'm fixing to have a bowel movement and the pain that I was going to experience because I know once I poop the lingering pain will be there for many hours and as you know you can't sit or lie down so I end up pacing around until the pain goes away enough to go to sleep. Once they are healed if you have a bowel movement that opens the fissures up then get your Tenactin and it will be healed by the next day, no joke, this is how I did it. I started doing this back in 2007 and I'm still doing it today, I believe this is a good practice to do because it gets that poop out of you and it don't sit there for hours or days which makes a healthier you. I haven't been sick since I started this, you are always clean inside which I believe makes a difference. Hope this helps you for I for one know how painful fissures are. Since it only takes a few minutes every time I go to the bathroom it has shrunk my hemorrhoids to where they no longer bother me so it's good for hemorrhoids too.

I want to try this, but you are saying just before your actually poop, you use the flush out? How do you apply the tenactin, with finger?
