This is not a EV failure, this is a business failure. Business fail all the time. Fisker always seemed like a con artist to me. Lots of online advertising with a lot of big promises. Big Warning Signs. Two failed car business for Fisker now. It is a shame, the car looked really nice, but it is a piece of junk.

@@nrakma The only thing about Fisker that resembles Ferrari is the poor management and reliability issues. On paper, Ferrari is a shitty company building lemons. The only thing that keeps them going is prestige and flat out beautiful designs. Many of the high end European marques have been banking on their prestige for decades. That is not something easily transferred to a startup EV company.

What Brian mentioned about the software goes back to one of Kyle's posts about at what point is a car considered okay to sell. For Tesla or the other legacy companies they can generally get away without all the features and software bc people feel confident they'll exist. In the case of Fisker they didn't deliver on all the software at release and unfortunately those owners will likely never get that software or features.

The EV industry is really still in it's infancy. Let's not forget that at the dawn of the 20th century there were dozens of automakers that came and went over the years and today only a handful of domestic manufacturers remain. Fisker isn't the first and won't be the last. Those that can deliver a compelling product that consumers want at a price they can afford and can execute at scale and be profitable will survive. That is the invisible hand at work in a capitalist economy as it should be.

We had the XC40 - Recharge.....sorry to say, it was the worse EV experience we ever had. The tCAM had to be replaced 2 times in 2 months. One time the car died at work...wouldn't charge, couldn't unlock it. FInall got it to charge but had to drive it to the dealer in "SOS" mode (their suggestion). They had it for 5 days and for the next 6 months (before we sold it to get the R1T), my wife refused to drive it because she didn't want to risk being stranded. At 100% charge I was lucky to get to work (145 miles away). I regularly had to stop and charge (luckily that was free from EA). This was a 2022 model.

Unfortunately it was a risk I took and it's what you get when you take a chance with a newly built company. Crossing fingers that I don't get in an accident. If it continues working as it currently does I'm happy with it - really don't have any issues and the ones I have had are so minor that they resolved within 24 hours. 360 miles per charge is also something I love and the design is amazing. It's a beautiful car. Makes no sense for me to sell it for cheap just to buy something that hopefully has the same features....it is what it is and insurance is still there. It's just a car after all...

There certainly will be shops to support owners moving forward. The questions are to what level beyond mechanical? They Fisker Ocean was built in Austria, so the supply chain for parts is likely not readily available in the US. Also, so much of what's needed is software support and we're dealing with proprietary software code. So some will have limited support if in proximity to a specialized shop, but most will be on their own to a large extent.

One more thing about Lucid: On the engineering side, WOW, it seems excellent, and Reviewers like Car and Driver for example, love it. Watching Munro tear it down and talk about it, it does seem like they could use a better battery design, although they can acquire a new battery & subsystems to rectify that at any time. Their chassis, overall design, and especially the mechanical transmission are all awesome. .... There are two important differences between Lucid and Fisker. Lucid owns their technology and its first rate. Fisker owns nothing, it all comes from Magna. All Fisker has is some styling and unlike the first go around with the Karma, which is still a striking vehicle even 12 years later, the Ocean is just another SUV and all SUVs look alike. The other big difference is that Lucid is backed by the Saudis who have very deep pockets. They are getting a second chance with the Gravity. If the Gravity doesn't sell then Peter Rawlinson will have something to worry about because the Saudis have a history of chopping people who upset them into very small pieces.

Yes i see the interior, yes i see the windows, the screen that flips from landscape to portrait. But what no one talks about is how the battery holds up, how is the suspension. If something goes wrong, what can i use to repair it with? Im thinking of jumping in on an ocean if i can get one for sub 15k, maybe its just a waiting game and just convincing a dealer to eat the loss and let it go. What are the chances fisker bricks all vehicles if they go completely under? Why cant a fisker be turned into a dumb battery car, i charge it and it goes. I researched for about 3 months and back 3 years ago pure EV ranges were in the mid 200 miles per charge or less. I got 2020 BMW i3s REX which I thought was horrible looking. Since I drive an extremely cool 1992 BMW 850i which gets very bad gas mileage being a 12 cyl I wanted to eliminate some stopping at gas stations. BUT I did not want to have to stop for electric within 220-230 miles and have the 30+ min wait to charge up. Also WOW did we get lucky. Coming back from California to Phoenix there are only 2 charging opportunities. On New Years day we were on the route and charging spot 1 had a 3 car wait. I pressed the button that clicks on a 2.3 gallon engine that maintains the high voltage state of charge with a generator and continued on. Next charging station even more of a wait. Instead of electric I topped off the gas and kept going. So, I can do approv 170 miles on electric and 80 miles in hybrid mode, plus 80 plus 80 plus 80 if I want to or need to keep getting gas. It's pretty genius. I heard a tumor that a future release of the Cybertruck will have this range extender capability. It's cool to have the financial benefits of 170 of home charging inexpensive electric and the luxury of no range anxiety.

@@EV_OG True. Not meaning to point out just Fisker. It's a general truth. But it doesn't take long to find out Mr Fisker has no business running and start up, let alone a car company start up of which littlerly only one company succeeded in decades of trying and that only by a thin margin. Fisker, a designer by trade, had absolutely 0% chance of success. And that should have been obvious to someone who took a day to look into it.

They don't have to delivery products to get paid. The executive teams rake in the cash even if they go bankrupt. They were hoping for the big win to become Billionaires, but will just settle for failure and become millionaires instead. So sad for them. NOT

They are different battery types. Just because lithium is an ingredient, does not mean they are the same. Like champagne vs champagne vinegar vs a mimosa. And cell phones don't go dead if left in the car, or on a charger--if the charger is built properly. Most are not, sadly. Cold? See what happens to diesel if you fill up in Louisiana and go to Montreal in the winter. It turns to jello in the fuel lines, and must be thawed out before the vehicle can be used again. It isn't as neat and simple as you might think.
